This 1956 Pontiac Star Chief convertible coupe is said to have had
a refurbishment completed in 2007, just before the current owner's
acquisition in February 2008.
It is refinished in pink and gray over black and white and is
powered by a 317ci V8 linked with a four-speed Strato-Flight
automatic transmission. Equipment includes a white convertible top,
a Continental spare tire kit, power steering, 15? steel wheels with
bright hubcaps, a non-working Pontiac push-button AM radio, and an
analog clock.
This Star Chief is now offered by the seller on behalf of the
current owner with a car cover, 2008 purchase documents, and a
clean New Jersey title in the owner's name.
The car was refinished in pink and gray during refurbishment work
that is said to have been completed in 2008. Exterior details
include a replacement white convertible top, a Continental spare
tire kit, and chrome bumpers, window surrounds, and trim.
The 15? steel wheels feature bright hubcaps and are mounted with an
older set of Coker bias ply whitewall tires. Braking is provided by
drums at each corner. Power steering was added in 2025.
The cabin houses front and rear bench seats that were reupholstered
in black and white as well as a color-coordinated dashboard, door
panels, and carpeting. Interior appointments include a Pontiac
push-button AM radio, locking glovebox storage, and an analog
clock.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts
a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for amperage, coolant temperature,
fuel level, and oil pressure. The fuel sending unit was replaced in
2025. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 370 of
which were added under current ownership. An odometer disclosure
statement from the seller's purchase in 2008 is shown in the
gallery below.
The 317ci Strato-Streak V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel
carburetor and was rated at 227 horsepower and 312 lb-ft of torque
when new.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed
Strato-Flight automatic transmission.
