Its model has been featured in a slew of movies and absolutely
embodies muscle car sensibility in generously proportioned,
thoroughly well-powered form. Dressed in sharp white paint with
painted blue accenting stripes that show its lengthy form off to
perfection, this 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 is a seriously coveted
classic. With its precisely-aligned body panels, clean chrome trim
and clear cabin glass, it has an undeniable vitality to it, and
rest assured, with a recently rebuilt drivetrain also in place, it
has plenty of power to reinforce its appearance. Cruising on a set
of 15" Magnum 500 wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials, this
vintage Dodge looks like it's moving even when standing still.
The blue vinyl interior really looks nice. It was revitalized in
the not-so-distant past and, judging from the condition inside the
cabin, has been treated carefully ever since. The front buckets and
rear bench seat retain a factory appearance to them, and the door
panels cling snugly to their surrounding steel. A Hurst shifter
with a white knob looks perfectly at home in this setting,
beckoning you to climb in and find out what this muscle car can do.
Up front, the dash area is in clean condition, with clear factory
gauges in the instrument cluster and a supple, uncracked pad across
the top.
Beneath the hood, you'll find a period-correct 440-cubic-inch V8
residing in an expansive engine compartment. Thoroughly associated
with a number of high-performance Mopar offerings over the years,
the big block was only recently rebuilt. During that time, it was
fortified with a number of high-quality components to optimize its
ability, including new pistons and rings with 11:1 compression, and
a Comp Cam. And, as if its existing displacement wasn't impressive
enough, the engine was also bored .040 over in the process of the
rebuild, so you can only imagine what it's capable of as it teams
with a four-speed manual transmission that puts full control of its
output in the hands of the driver. An upgraded Pertronix ignition
system maximizes available spark, while subframe connectors below
help ensure that this Coronet's undercarriage is prepared for what
the engine dishes out.
