Purchased new at Mini North Scottsdale and fitted with the John
Cooper Works tuning kit before it ever left the dealership. It was
kept by the original owner in climate-controlled garages part of
the time in Scottsdale, AZ and other times in Tustin, CA where they
spent their summers. In the interest of preservation, the nose was
fitted with a protective bra, the seats were covered with
sheep-skin seat covers, the windows were blacked out with window
tint, and the body was wrapped with two car covers (one soft, one
padded). After twenty years of this treatment, the owner finally
decided to sell it (August 2024) to the present owner with just
14,162 original miles.
The second owner drove the car from the house in Tustin directly to
the premier Orange County Mini specialist, British Worx OC, for a
full inspection and major service. With fresh fluids, filters,
spark plugs w/new wires, and additional freon on board, the next
stop was Pep Boys for four new Michelin Pilot Sport tires (Adios
Run-Flats). During his ownership, the same careful indoor storage
was maintained along with light road use. After a year of
ownership, it was time for another oil service and inspection. This
time, the Mini was taken to Crevier Mini (factory dealership) where
the technicians found no faults or leaks to speak of. This is an
incredibly well-optioned and well-preserved R53 Mini Cooper S with
the ultra-desirable John Cooper Works tuning kit. I personally
think it is the most fun a driving enthusiast can have in this
price bracket.
