One of only two painted Black from the factory, One of only 20 S
specification RS200's, Extremely well known history including
ownership and service files. This 1986 Ford RS200 is one
of 146 examples sold in an effort to meet World Rally Championship
Group B homologation requirements. The Cosworth built turbocharged
1.8L four was equipped from the factory with a 350 horsepower kit,
thus rare S specification from new. Various other options
include: Recaro seats, power windows, a radio, and special Black
paint, 1 of only 2 painted as such from the factory when new. Power
is sent to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox and
three limited-slip differentials. Ghia designed the
fiberglass composite body, which was subsequently built by Reliant.
The original invoice indicates that Aston Martin Tickford was
commissioned to complete the special black finish for an additional
3,500. This RS200 is believed to be one of only two RS200s
originally ordered in Black. The interior was also finished by
Tickford with patterned inserts on the door panels and Recaro sport
seats. Further, this RS200 was optioned with electric windows,
heat, a cassette head unit and full complement of gauges to monitor
all aspects of this race bred rally car. Additionally 16 Ford
Motorsport wheels made of magnesium alloy are fitted and mounted
with Pirelli tires. A full-size spare is stored under the rear
clamshell aft of the engine along with the lug wrench and
jack. This RS200 was first ordered by Texas
oilman Mr. Dennis O'Connor. It was purchased on his behalf by Innes
Ireland along with three additional RS200s. Unfortunately, Mr.
O'Conner passed away prior to being able to take delivery, and race
engineer as well as well-known and respected restorer, Mr. Terry
Hoyle acquired the cars in 1990. This RS200 was imported
to the United States in the 1990s, but later returned to the United
Kingdom in 1997. The car was then displayed within the David Sutton
Motorsports Museum with 600 indicated miles at the time and was
first registered in the UK in 2006. Subsequently, this RS 200
crossed the ocean once again with its return to the US circa 2016.
In its most recent collector ownership, this RS200 "S"
specification has been kept in collector hands here in Long Island,
NY/USA. Although used sparingly, it has benefitted from regular
servicing to include a cylinder head service, timing belt
replacement, new oil hoses-lines, anything and everything to keep
is superb, ready to use condition throughout.Although, born of race
bred engineering, this RS200 is extremely useable for standard road
use and enjoyment.On a recent road test, the RS200 was found to be
incredibly docile until the accelerator is pushed to the floor at
which time this "S" optioned RS200's power is unleashed race-rally
bred engineering in full force and fury. This
RS200S is a welcomed entrant for many exclusive concours events
throughout the world. In superb condition throughout, it is a rare
piece of automotive history suitable for any enthusiasts
collection.This is an extremely rare opportunity to own a truly

engineering.
