Listing Details
This 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV was purchased by the seller in March of 2019, from the original owner who purchased the vehicle new in Omaha, Nebraska October 1972. Finished in Champagne Metallic over tan, the car is powered by a 2.0-liter twin-cam inline-four paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Work preformed between 2015 and 2019 by the previous owner has included rebuilding the engine and SPICA injection pump, installing new clutch and transmission parts, fitting new suspension and brake components, and more. Now showing nearly 92k miles, this GTV is offered with the owner’s manual and service books, and a clean Montana title.
The exterior received a bare-metal repaint approximately 30 years ago in its original Champagne Metallizzato (AR-855), and close-ups of the finish and some imperfections can be seen in the photo gallery below. The glass is said to be original with the exception of a new windshield, and the window and door seals have been replaced.
Recently 14" Wheels with Falken Azenis 195/60R14 tires date code 1105 have been installed on the vehicle the 14” O.A. aluminum wheels with steel stud inserts wear Doral SDL tires that were mounted in 2015, with approximately 500 miles on them are included with the vehicle and can be viewed in the gallery. The suspension and brake systems were refreshed in 2015, including new Koni shocks, sway bar bushings, limiting straps, a new heavy-duty rear sway bar, tie rod bushings, and other steering bushings. The braking system received new pads and stainless steel lines, rebuilt calipers, and resurfaced rotors. An alignment was completed following the work.
The interior features tan vinyl upholstery with dark brown carpeting, wood accents, and a factory wood-rimmed steering wheel. The upholstery has been replaced on the passenger seat bottom and the left upper and lower areas of the driver’s seat, with stitching done by hand. A crack is noted on the center area of the driver’s seat back and the front lower speaker covers are damaged, and the turn signals switch lever needs repaired. Sound-proofing material was installed under the trim on the floorboards, firewall, doors, and behind the back seat. A new headliner from Centerline International has also been installed.
The 5-digit odometer shows just nearly 92k miles, 500 of which have been added by the current owner. According to the seller and the previous owner the car has been garage stored. A later Pioneer cassette player is fitted in the dash under previous ownership.
A receipt for the engine rebuild is available upon request. Additional work completed at the time included installation of a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing, new front and rear transmission seals, and a new second-gear synchronizer, as well as the following:
The underside was refurbished in 2013, with the coating removed and areas of rust wire-wheeled from the surface near the bottom of the rocker panels. The surface was then hand sanded, primed, repainted, and finished with Eastwood rubberized undercoating. Current images of the underside as well as photos taken during the refurbishment can be seen in the gallery below.
The original books, and other documents are included with the sale, as well as a SPICA manual that was provided when the injection pump was rebuilt.
