Cruisin Classics is proud to present to you this incredibly
low-mileage 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. 1981 was the final year of
the 2nd gen Camaro Z28 and cars built for the US market were
available with a 350 V8 - 3 speed automatic pairing or a 305 V8
with a 4speed manual. The 350 cars had the new CCC system (computer
command control) which was an early ECU that controlled emissions
but robbed horsepower. Cars made for export to Canada, however,
were available with a 350 - 4-speed combo with no CCC system. Only
3,025 Canadian-spec Z28's were manufactured in '81, and this is one
of those special cars! Making it even more desirable is the number
on the odometer - a mere 15,246 km, that's only 9,473 actual miles!
Let's take a closer look at this very cool ride....
This Z28 comes to us dressed in it's original factory White lacquer
paint that's still in good driver-quality condition. All of the
Z28's had a 3-color gradient decal package and they were available
in seven color combinations. This particular car wears the Red/Dark
Orange/Light Orange offering, still in very good condition. Up
front, the hood features a rear-pointing raised scoop with a
solenoid-operated flap that opens at full throttle, allowing the
engine to breathe cooler air. The scoop is accented with decals and
an "Air Induction" call-out. Ahead of the hood is a molded urethane
front clip with angular upper and lower horizontal grilles flanked
by round recessed headlights in black buckets. Beneath is a
wrap-around front spoiler with more stripe decals. Sporty good
looks continue with the side view, including single-opening fender
scoops, body-color sport mirrors and door handles, bright door edge
molding, rear fender flares, and more multi-color gradient striping
that culminates with a "Z28" on the doors. The fastback roofline
leads your eye to the 3-piece rear spoiler on the decklid. The
cherry on top of the side view are a set of white 5-spoke Rally
wheels (15") with bright rings, all wrapped in white letter BF
Goodrich Radial TA's. In the rear you'll find more stripes on the
rear spoiler, crystal-clear tail lights, a working power antenna,
and a centered gas fill door with Z28 badging. This iconic body
style makes the Z28 look like it's going fast even when sitting
still!
Lift the hood to find a very clean stock engine bay dressed in
black and illuminated by a working courtesy light. At the center is
the original blue 350ci V-8 topped with blue valve covers, a
factory intake, a 4-barrel Quadra-Jet carburetor, and a black air
cleaner with a "5.7 litre Z28" decal and rubber air induction
gasket. While under the hood you'll notice power steering, power
front disc and rear drum brakes, and working factory air
conditioning. Exhaust flows through cast manifolds and dual
mufflers before leaving the tips with a pleasing rumble. The V-8 is
mated up to a Borg-Warner 4-speed manual transmission that sends
power to the rear wheels via a 10-bolt limited-slip rear
differential. The car fires right up, runs great, and is a real
pleasure to drive.
Prepare to be impressed when you open the drivers door! Inside is a
gorgeous stock deluxe red cloth interior that looks showroom new
(with the exception of an aftermarket stereo). Working courtesy
lights pop on right away to proudly display the time capsule
interior. The door panels are a mix of carpet, vinyl, and fabric -
all in different shades of red - accented by a bright trim strip
and Z28 badge. They feature armrests, power locks, and a drivers
mirror toggle. A bright Fisher Body sill plate welcomes you in for
a comfortable cruise in one of the red cloth & vinyl bucket seats.
The front buckets and the rear seats are all in flawless condition
and show no signs of wear. Splitting the front seats is a center
console with an armrest/storage box, power window switches, and a
shifter for the 4-speed manual with a black pattern ball and black
rubber boot. Underfoot is nice red factory carpet with red
carpet/rubber floormats while overhead is a tight red perforated
vinyl headliner. Ahead of the driver is a 4-spoke steering wheel
with a working horn on a tilt column. The wheel frames a silver
gauge cluster with gauges for fuel, battery, and temp as well as a
clock (inop.), a 140 kmh speedometer, and a 7K tachometer. There
are controls for the lights and working 2-speed wipers and also the
HVAC system that delivers cold A/C and hot heat with a strong fan
on demand. On the right theres a button for the rear defogger and a
Pioneer AM/FM/Cassette stereo that plays through a dash speaker and
two 6X9's on the rear package tray. The dash is topped off with a
crack-free red vinyl pad and there's a glovebox with working
courtesy light ahead of the front passenger. The trunk is
illuminated by a courtesy light and contains black carpet, a set of
mudflaps, and a BF Goodrich donut tire.
If you're looking for a low-mileage '81 Z28 with a rare 350 -
4-speed combo and no power-stealing CCC on it, then you just found
your new ride! This car is a gorgeous example of the last year of
the 2nd gen Camaro's, and it runs and drives spectularly! To top it
all off, it's got cold factory A/C and a rockin' stereo! Give us a
call today, don't let this rare opportunity pass you by!
