The first generation Chevrolet Chevelle was a mid-sized model that
was produced by GM beginning in 1964. GM's "senior compact" was
designed around their A-platform that utilized the body-on-frame
construction and a coil spring suspension set-up similar to their
full sized models. Chevelle production continued through 1977 (3
generations) and continued to be a mainstay of the Chevrolet
lineup.
