Built with performance in mind and owned by the same enthusiast
since 1979, this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport presents as a
serious street machine that delivers big-block power and classic
muscle car presence. While the car cannot be verified as a factory
SS due to the absence of its original engine, it has been built to
true Super Sport performance standards and offers an experience
that lives up to the name.
Under the hood sits a built 454 V8 bored .030 over and estimated at
approximately 425 horsepower, configured to run on pump gas. The
engine is equipped with a Crane camshaft (.544/.564 lift),
high-volume oil pump, Edelbrock Torker II low-profile intake, and a
Holley 780 CFM carburetor. Ignition is handled by an MSD
distributor, coil, and 6A box with Moroso spiral core wires, while
Crane roller rockers and Carter mechanical and electric fuel pumps
round out a well-thought-out setup designed for both performance
and reliability.
Power is delivered through a Turbo 400 automatic transmission
paired with a B&M Super Holeshot torque converter with a 3,500
stall, sending power to a 12-bolt posi rear with aggressive 4.56
gears. This combination makes for strong acceleration and a true
muscle car driving experience. Hooker 2-inch headers with 3.5-inch
collectors feed into a Dynamax exhaust system, giving the car a
deep, authoritative sound that matches its performance.
Cooling and reliability have been addressed with a Be Cool aluminum
radiator, and the car has also received a new fuel tank and sending
unit installed in February 2025 along with a new battery in
November 2025. Suspension upgrades include Gabriel gas shocks along
with large front and rear sway bars, helping the car stay composed
while still delivering that classic big-block feel.
The exterior has undergone an older color change from red to Tuxedo
Black, giving the car a more aggressive and timeless look. The body
appears to retain its original sheet metal, and the overall
presentation is that of a solid driver-quality car with minor
imperfections noted in the photos. The stance and presence are
exactly what you would expect from a well-built Chevelle.
Inside, the black interior features bucket seats and maintains a
clean, classic muscle car appearance. The factory air conditioning
system is present and complete but will require servicing to be
operational.
This Chevelle represents a long-term owned, thoughtfully built
big-block street car that prioritizes performance while remaining
usable and enjoyable. With its strong drivetrain, aggressive
gearing, and unmistakable muscle car presence, it delivers exactly
what enthusiasts are looking for-a real street car with serious
power that is ready to be driven and enjoyed.
