Introduced for the 1954 model year, the MG TF represented one of
the final evolutions of MG's beloved T-Series roadsters, developed
as a transitional model before the all-new MGA. While the preceding
MG TD had enjoyed strong postwar sales, particularly in the United
States, its upright, prewar-inspired styling was beginning to feel
dated. Rather than undertake a full redesign, MG refined the
existing platform, creating the TF as a more modernized
interpretation of the classic British sports car. Key changes
focused on appearance and performance. The TF featured a lower,
sleeker profile with a slanted radiator grille, faired-in
headlamps, and a revised bonnet line that improved aerodynamics and
visual appeal. Under the hood, the proven engine was retained
initially, later enlarged to 1,466 cc in TF 1500 form, offering
improved performance. The MG TF was developed to extend the life of
the T-Series while satisfying evolving market tastes, bridging
tradition and modernity at a pivotal moment in MG's history. One of
the longer residents of The Dane Miller Estate Collection, this
lovely little 1954 MG TF was welcomed into the collection 32 years
ago in 1994. Documented on the accompanying bill of sale and title,
the collection acquired this MG from the Classic Car Centre of
Warsaw, Indiana, who had owned it since 1991. Finished in the
smooth and eye-catching color of red, its flowing body is
complemented by classic knock-off wire wheels and subtle chrome
throughout. Other exterior features include a rear-mounted full
spare, rear luggage rack, dual sideview mirrors, wind wings, and a
front grille bar with various motoring badges affixed. The cockpit
interior features newer faux brown leather upholstery with a
matching dashboard, a banjo style steering wheel, as well as tan
folding soft top enclosed by a matching boot cover. A set of
snap-in windows is also included for when weather is not favorable,
and you still want to enjoy this MG. Power is provided by MG's
lively 1.25-litre inline four-cylinder engine, paired with a
traditional four-speed manual gearbox that delivers an engaging,
mechanical driving experience. Light on its feet and full of
character, the MG TF offers just the right amount of performance to
make every back road feel special without sacrificing
approachability. Ideal for weekend driving, casual touring, and
local cruise-ins, the TF remains a charming reminder of an era when
driving pleasure was defined by simplicity, sound, and connection
to the road. * Recipient of an older complete restoration
