Introduced as part of Acura's groundbreaking NSX lineage, the 2002
Acura NSX-T represents one of the most refined evolutions of
Honda's revolutionary "everyday supercar." Development of the NSX
began as early as 1984, with the goal of challenging European
exotics while delivering unmatched reliability and usability. When
it debuted in 1990, it redefined the segment with its all-aluminum
construction, mid-engine layout, and Formula One influenced
engineering, which included input from legendary driver Ayrton
Senna. By 2002, the NSX-T, featuring a removable targa roof first
introduced in 1995, had evolved into a highly refined machine. That
year brought a significant facelift, replacing the original pop-up
headlights with fixed xenon units, along with aerodynamic
improvements and subtle chassis refinements. Powered by a 3.0-litre
VTEC V-6 paired to a six-speed manual transmission or optional
automatic transmission, the NSX-T delivered a uniquely balanced
driving experience, combining precision, comfort, and everyday
usability in a way few supercars could match. The NSX played a
pivotal role in reshaping American perceptions of Japanese
performance cars. It proved that a Japanese manufacturer could
rival Ferrari and Porsche not only in performance, but in build
quality and reliability, earning its place as an icon of the 1990s
and early 2000s. Its influence also extended into popular culture,
appearing in video games, films, and garages of enthusiasts who
valued its understated yet exotic presence. Today, the 2002 NSX-T
has become increasingly desirable among collectors. With relatively
low production numbers and a wide palette of factory colors,
including standout hues like Spa Yellow, Imola Orange Pearl, and
Long Beach Blue Pearl, well-preserved examples are becoming harder
to source. As appreciation for analog-era driver's cars continues
to grow, especially those with rare color combinations, the NSX-T
stands as a rising modern classic whose demand shows no signs of
slowing. Between 1991 and 2005, approximately 8,949 NSXs were
built, which is low for a 15-year production. To break it down even
further, just 246 were built in 2002, and even more significant, a
mere 49 NSXs across the entire 15-year production run were
factory-finished in the shade of Imola Orange Pearl, such as this
example. Combined with the optional four-speed automatic
transmission, this NSX-T becomes a one-of-one example and
rightfully achieves unicorn status. Inside, this NSX-T features
power-adjustable sport seats upholstered in orange leather, of
which just 41 examples originally left the factory with this being
the only 2002 example to bear this exterior and interior color
combination, further solidifying its unicorn status. The seats are
joined by color-coordinated carpets, NSX-branded floor mats, a Bose
sound system, automatic climate control, and cruise control. In the
driver focused cockpit, you are faced with a leather wrapped
steering wheel that frames the 180-mph speedometer, various gauges,
and an odometer that shows just 48,000 miles from new, which is
consistent with the clean CARFAX report. Power is achieved by a
3.0-litre VTEC V-6 that is linked to an optional four-speed
automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential. In 2018,
at 44,003 miles, a major servicing was performed that entailed
replacing the timing belt, water pump, belt tensioner pulley, and
all the gaskets related to the timing belt and water pump. At this
same time, the air-conditioning and alternator belt were serviced,
the coolant was replaced, and a titanium Dave's pulley protective
shield was installed. Since then, few miles have been added and
routine maintenance such as oil changes, and brake inspections have
been completed. These NSXs are praised for their wonderful road
manners and handling, mainly thanks to the four-wheel
double-wishbone suspension and, of course, the personal input from
three-time Formula 1 world championship Ayrton Senna. Along with
the various maintenance records, an owner's manual and two sets of
keys are included. The driver of desirability in the NSX-T is the
aluminum body, aluminum monocoque chassis in mid-engine layout and
high-revving lightweight engine delivering one of the most
well-balanced driving experience of all time. This well cared for,
clean CARFAX example in its one-of-one specification will be loved
and admired by both new and seasoned generations of collectors for
years to come. * A one-of-one example, as the only 2002 finished in
factory Imola Orange Pearl with factory orange leather interior
* 1 of a mere 49 examples finished in desirable factory color of
Imola Orange Pearl over the entire 15-year production run
* Impressive performance and Formula 1 tested handling accomplished
by the aluminum monocoque chassis, mid-engine layout, and
high-revving lightweight engine
* An exciting analog-era sports car with true unicorn status
