Schnell-perfected.
The 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S is where precision engineering meets
relentless performance. Finished in iconic Guards Red over Black,
this example represents the pinnacle of Porsche's transaxle era and
the most advanced 944 of its time.
At its heart lies the uprated M44/52 engine, producing 250 HP and
258 Torque, a substantial increase over the standard Turbo. Thanks
to a larger KKK K26 8 turbocharger and revised engine mapping,
maximum boost is sustained deeper into the rev range, delivering
power with urgency and consistency.
In 1988, this made the Turbo S the fastest production four-cylinder
car in the world.
But the Turbo S is more than straight-line speed. Equipped with the
legendary M030 suspension package, it features Koni adjustable
dampers, progressive springs, reinforced chassis components, and
larger anti-roll bars, engineered for balance, control, and
confidence at the limit.
Stopping power is equally formidable, with Brembo 4-piston brakes
derived from the 928 S4, while the AOR transmission includes a
higher-friction clutch, external cooler, and 40 percent
limited-slip differential.
Visually, the Turbo S is purposeful and unmistakable. It rides on
16-inch forged Club Sport wheels, wider front and rear, wrapped in
performance tires and housed beneath subtly widened arches.
Inside, the cabin is focused yet refined, featuring power seats, a
driver-oriented layout, and the unmistakable feel of a true Porsche
cockpit.
Produced in limited numbers and inspired by Porsche's Turbo Cup
racing success, the Turbo S stands as a milestone so significant
that its performance upgrades became standard across all Turbos in
the following year.
