The 1939 Plymouth P8 Deluxe was the premium trim level in
Plymouth's lineup for the year, positioned above the entry-level P7
Road King. It featured a more stylish design with unique factory
square headlights. It was marketed as a "luxury" low-priced car,
featuring a complete restyling with a sleek "art deco" prow-like
nose.
This Plymouth P8 Deluxe Convertible is featured in Gray with a
Black vinyl interior and tan fabric top. The P8 is powered by a 201
cubic inch inline six-cylinder L-head motor mated to a
column-shifted three-speed manual transmission.
This pre-war Plymouth wears a well-maintained older restoration
that has stood up to the test of time and remains in exceptionally
good overall condition. The Gray paint shows well with very a few
imperfections (shown in photos). The black interior also shows well
with a split bench seat, black rubber floor matting, and a painted
dash. The interior features a power vacuum actuated top which
requires minor manual assistance to get it started, directionals, a
heater, and storage compartments behind the front seats.
This Plymouth comes to a quick start as you push the foot petal,
once started you will welcome the smooth running 6-cylinder motor
powered by the single barrel carburetor.
The outside of this Plymouth features a tan cloth convertible top
in particularly good condition free of any excessive wear as well
as glass wing windows, running boards, and a rumble seat which are
all accented by the front grille and brilliant chrome.
This convertible is running on painted steel wheels with chrome
hubcaps featuring Plymouth script and is surrounded by Firestone
wide whitewall tires.
If you are looking for a pre-war American Classic car this 1939
Plymouth P8 Deluxe Convertible is the right choice.
