more information.
The 1973 Mercury Cougar XR-7 represented the final year of the
third-generation Cougar, a model that had evolved from a pony car
into a more luxurious personal luxury coupe and convertible. Built
on a larger platform shared with the Ford Torino, the Cougar
emphasized comfort, styling, and a smooth ride while still offering
V8 performance. The XR-7 trim level was the top-of-the-line
offering, featuring upscale interior appointments and distinctive
exterior styling. By 1973, stricter emissions and safety
regulations were shaping the automotive landscape, making
well-preserved and restored examples like this one especially
desirable among collectors today.
