Since 1981, RUF Automobil GmbH has occupied a singular position in
the ever-growing world of Porsche tuners as the only firm
recognized by German authorities as an independent manufacturer in
its own right. That distinction has never been more fully realized
than in the SCR, which debuted at the 2018 Geneva International
Motor Show and paid tribute to the legendary original SCR that
helped establish RUF's reputation some four decades earlier.
The SCR is a ground-up RUF design in every meaningful sense. Its
structure is entirely engineered from scratch and not a "body in
white" supplied by Porsche. It consists of a carbon-fiber monocoque
with front and rear spaceframes bonded to the central tub and an
integrated roll cage fabricated from high-strength steel. The
aerodynamically optimized carbon-fiber bodywork, shaped with the
assistance of CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics) analysis, evokes the
silhouette of the air-cooled 911 while concealing engineering that
owes nothing to Stuttgart. Suspension at both axles follows a
double-wishbone layout with pushrod-actuated dampers in a
horizontal configuration, actively adjustable across two driving
settings. Stopping duties are handled by cross-drilled, ventilated
ceramic composite brake discs front and rear-380 mm up front,
gripped by six-piston monobloc calipers-providing the kind of
fade-resistant, high-modulation braking the car's performance
demands.
Mounted behind the rear axle is a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated
water-cooled, aluminum-block flat-six that draws on the lineage of
the Mezger-derived engine family. It develops a potent 510
horsepower at 8,270 rpm and 347 lb-ft of torque at 5,760 rpm. Drive
reaches the rear wheels exclusively through a six-speed manual
gearbox with a limited-slip differential, preserving the tactile,
analog quality of engagement that has long defined the best of
RUF's creations. At just 1,250 kilograms (2,756 pounds), the result
is zero-to-62 mph in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph,
reflecting the SCR's exceptionally favorable power-to-weight
ratio.
The SCR is the clearest expression yet of what RUF is capable of
when given a blank sheet of paper. Chassis 06025 presents that
philosophy in one of the most arresting configurations yet
completed, finished in Paint to Sample Trkisblau (Turkish Blue), a
vivid and deeply saturated historic shade that lends fresh
intensity to the SCR's already dramatic form. The choice is
complemented by matte Titanium Grey 19-inch forged center-lock
five-spoke RUF wheels that frame vibrant Guards Red brake calipers.
A front-axle hydraulic lifting system was specified for greater
real-world usability, while paint protection film was applied to
preserve the finish from new. Further accessories selected by the
ordering owner included magnetic number plates and a lightweight
battery.
Inside, the SCR's interior combines focused, lightweight
construction in a fully bespoke environment. The cabin is
upholstered in RUF Black Nappa leather with black stitching,
accented by carbon-fiber trim and Trkisblau embroidery, as
confirmed by its accompanying RUF Zertifikat. The fixed
Kevlar-carbon "Lollipop" bucket seats are likewise appointed in
Black leather with handsome black-and-grey houndstooth inserts, a
period-inspired choice that suits the SCR's retro-modern character
perfectly. Matte carbon-fiber dashboard trim and matching
carbon-fiber door center covers further sharpen the interior's
technical tone, while the extended Nappa leather package swaths the
rest of the interior surfaces, including the door cards, dashboard,
center console, and rear area, in supple leather. An embroidered
SCR logo provides a final bespoke touch.
Its careful assembly is documented by a comprehensive digital file
of build images, offering a glimpse into the craftsmanship involved
in creating one of Pfaffenhausen's most exclusive modern cars.
Delivered in March 2025, chassis 06025 is now offered as a
virtually new example, showing just 217 miles at the time of
cataloging. It is furnished with its RUF Zertifikat, driver's
manual, and an indoor cover stitched in the exterior color and
embroidered with both the RUF logo and the car's individual chassis
number. As a highly exclusive, made-to-order RUF offered here in
like-new condition with delivery mileage, chassis 06025 is surely
among the most collectible RUF automobiles to reach the market in
recent memory.
