After three decades of incremental improvements and refinement of the 911's rear-engine, air-cooled formula, Porsche introduced a fundamental change to the 911's DNA with the launch of the water-cooled 996-generation in late 1997. A move that has divided Porsche devotees ever since, the previous 993-generation 911 was thereby cemented as the last of the air-cooled 911s, and as a result, represents some of the most coveted modern Porsches ever produced.

Finished in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen in October 1997, this Carrera 2 Cabriolet was selected in Arctic Silver Metallic over an optional Classic Grey Supple leather interior. Factory-fitted options include a limited slip differential, Power Seat Package, Motor Sound Package, and HI-FI Sound Package with Speakers. The original window sticker additionally lists two selections from the Exclusive Department that include Classic Grey Floor Mats and Stainless Steel Door Sills with Carrera script. Delivered to Walter's Porsche of Riverside, California (now Porsche Riverside), the clean CARFAX reveals sunny Southern California ownership from new with regular servicing at Porsche South Bay between 2003 and 2017 by the long-term second owner.
