Original delivered by Competition Motors in Hollywood, California,
to Edmund Severson in Los Angeles, California, and finished in the
original color combination of Ivory (6004) with Red upholstery.
Completed for the 1960 model year, the 356B introduced Porsche's
updated "B" series, marking an important evolution of the 356
lineage with raised headlights and redesigned front and rear
bumpers.
The paintwork is in beautiful condition, with nice gaps and panel
fit, and the brightwork and trim are in very good condition. The
interior features a VDO instrumentation, a VDM deep-dish steering
wheel, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. Chrome 4.5" x 15" ventilated
wheels with Super hubcaps mounted with Michelin XAS 165 HR15 tires
(date coded 2023). The undercarriage is solid and rust-free.
According to the prior owner, this 356 was acquired by a long-term
custodian in March 1981 and stored from 1989 through 2005 before
undergoing a multi-year restoration. Airbrush Concepts completed a
cosmetic restoration. In 2019, Marque Motors in Portland, Oregon,
carried out significant mechanical work totaling approximately
$17,000. The engine-out service included a transmission rebuild,
replacement of bell crank bushings, flywheel gland nut, spark plug
wires, and the ignition switch, along with a valve adjustment,
carburetor rebuild, shift linkage repair, and replacement of
shifter bushings.
Mechanically powered by an air-cooled 1600cc flat-four Super engine
producing 75hp paired with a four-speed manual transmission (Type
741), and four-wheel drum brakes. This 356B runs and drives
excellent and is well sorted. Offered with an owner's manual, spare
wheel, jack, and recent service records. With its combination of
early T5 styling, documented service, and honest presentation, this
356B represents an appealing opportunity to enjoy one of Porsche's
most iconic driving experiences.
