INTRODUCTION: This is the muscle car of the era- a 1970 Chevelle SS
454 with cowl induction! The one everyone wanted then and still
does today. This example has had 1 owner for 26 years and he
treated it to a body off frame restoration. It comes well equipped
with factory air conditioning and a full gauge package.
EXTERIOR: The body is in great shape with very dry, clean metal
throughout. The bottoms of the doors, fenders, and lower rockers
all look excellent, and everything lines up square and properly.
The fit of the hood, especially at the headlight bezels, is
remarkably good. It features a cowl induction hood with a
functional flapper door. It's been repainted in Shadow Gray
metallic, which is laid out very nicely with a smooth, glossy clear
coat. The black stripes have been properly painted on and
complement the car perfectly. Overall, the chrome and trim are
straight and shiny. The windshield has been replaced along with the
weatherstrips. It's rolling proud on reproduction Firestone Wide
Oval tires wrapped around a sharp set of SS wheels.
INTERIOR: The interior has been kept stock in appearance and nicely
restored, while still offering plenty of features. Down on the
floor is fresh carpet along with a full set of GM seatbelts. The
bucket seats have been reupholstered, and in between them is the
correct center console with staple shifter. The door panels and
armrests have been replaced. Up front, the dash has been restored
and is complete with a full factory gauge package, a deluxe
steering wheel on a tilt column, and a retro stereo fitted in the
factory location. It also has 6x9 speakers mounted on the rear
shelf. In back, the seats have been reupholstered, and the side
panels were replaced. The headliner is new and fits tight without
wrinkles, complemented by matching visors.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This Chevelle has a lot to offer under the
hood, starting with a factory air conditioning system that has just
been overhauled and blows cold. It's also equipped with power
steering and power brakes, featuring a cadmium plated booster and a
new master cylinder. At the heart of it is a freshly rebuilt,
strong-running 454 engine! On top is a dual feed carb and a
functional cowl induction system. The rubber seal on the air
cleaner mates to the hood, and the flapper doors open to feed fresh
air into the engine. It's very proper and complete throughout,
including working squirters, new horns, hood insulation, and the
correct fan shroud. Overall, it's clean, tidy, and very well
presented.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Under the trunk lid and jamb have been repainted
and have a glossy finish. Inside is very clean, solid metal with a
correct spatter finish. It's complete with a spare tire and cover.
The weatherstrip has been replaced, and the decals have been
properly reapplied for a fresh, detailed appearance.
UNDERSIDE: This Chevelle underwent a body off frame restoration.
The floors are about as nice as you will ever find- smooth, clean
metal throughout, including the braces and inner rockers, all
finished in a neat satin black. It's equipped with the F41
suspension package, featuring front and rear sway bars and boxed
rear control arms. The steering and suspension were rebuilt during
the restoration and have been inspected by our shop. The brake
system includes disc brakes up front and drums in back, with the
e-brake properly hooked up. It has a great sounding dual exhaust
system with Flowmaster mufflers and correct cowbell tips. The fuel
system has been refreshed with a new tank, straps, and sending
unit. Looking up at the engine, it's clean Chevy orange with a
high-torque starter. It's backed by a correct 1970 Turbo 400
automatic, and a driveshaft connects to the 12-bolt rear end with
3.36 gears.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: If you prefer stock just like it was in 1970 over big
wheels, coilovers, and TMI seats, this is the Chevelle for you!
It's clean, properly restored, and still delivers the look and feel
that made these cars legendary. On top of that, it's equipped with
some very desirable options, making it as enjoyable to drive as it
is to own.
