Cruisin Classics is pleased to present this 1979 Ford Ranchero GT.
The 1979 Ranchero waspart of the final year of the seventh
generation (1977-1979), based on the Ford LTD II platform. This
Ranchero is dressed in a nice driver-quality respray of Medium Blue
Glow, it's original color, and an optional "glamour" color for '79
- according to the Marti Report only 695 Ranchero's were made in
this color. That beautiful shade of blue is accented by a sporty
White GT decal package that's been applied to the lower portion of
the body and the B-pillar on back to the rear on the bed. Up front
you'll find a bright eggcrate grill flanked by stacked headlights
in bright bezels with a mirror-finish chrome bumper with guards
beneath. Both fenders wear like-new "Ranchero" badging and both
doors sport body-color side mirrors. Brightwork pops against the
blue paint with window trim, door handles, and upper bed and rear
cab surround all gleaming in the light. The bed itself is in
average condition, with a few dings and a few paint flaws . The
tailgate features a white accent decal and FORD lettering above
another bright chrome bumper. Exhaust exits under the bumper with a
nice rumble flowing out of the chrome tips. This whole package is
made all the better by a set of 17" polished aluminum 5-spoke REV
wheels all wrapped in Capitol Sport UHP tires.
Under the hood of this Ranchero is a very presentable engine bay
with a 351ci Ford V-8 at the center. The V-8 is topped off with an
Edelbrock intake, an Edelbrock 4-Barrel carburetor, chrome "Ford
Motorsport" valve covers, and a chrome Ford air cleaner. Looking at
the front of the block, you'll find that this Ranchero is equipped
with power steering and working factory A/C that blows nice and
cold. Up front is a newer-looking aluminum radiator that keeps
things under the hood running cool. The V-8 is mated up to a Ford
3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear with
freeway-friendly gears. Stopping power is provided by power front
disc and rear drum brakes. Exhaust flows from cast manifolds
through a newer-looking exhaust before leaving the chrome tips at
the rear.
The interior is dressed just as it was originally ordered with just
a couple small additions. The original-looking door panels feature
armrests, window cranks, a drivers mirror toggle, factory speakers,
and wood trim accents. Slide into the blue cloth/vinyl bench seat
with a fold-down armrest for a comfortable cruise. The seat appears
OEM correct and is in good condition with minimal wear and few
imperfections. Underfoot is original-looking blue pile carpeting
with carpeted logo mats and overhead is a tight blue vinyl
headliner and a pair of visors. Ahead of the seat, on the
transmission tunnel is an aftermarket cup holder/caddy with a
SunPro volt gauge attached to the left side. Ahead of the driver is
a 3-spoke steering wheel with a black vinyl outer ring (horn inop)
on a fixed column. Beyond the wheel is a factory dash with a
crack-free blue vinyl dashpad and machine-turned aluminum gauge and
instrument bezels. In front of the driver are working gauges for
amps, fuel, temp, and oil as well as a clock (inop.), 6K
tachometer, and 85mph speedometer. The odometer reads 48,412 miles.
Below the gauge cluster are controls for lights, HVAC (cold A/C,
hot heat, working fan), working 2-speed wipers, a passenger mirror
toggle, and what we believe to be the original Ford AM/FM/8-track
stereo. Ahead of the passenger on the dash is a machine-turned
aluminum trim plate with Ranchero GT badging and a glovebox that
contains an original owners manual. Behind the passenger seat is a
full spare and a factory jack.
If you're looking for a sporty coupe utility that turns heads, has
some decent power, and is a comfortable cruiser with a ton of
amenities, then take a few minutes to really check out this
Ranchero GT - it's quite a rare find! This ride is ready for you to
hop in, turn the key and hit the road to anywhere in style and
comfort today. Give our friendly staff a call right away, as this
blue beauty is sure to find a new home quickly.
