With the resounding success of the 911 SC, Porsche’s engineers were given the go-ahead to begin work on a new generation of the company’s most famous model. However, as that car would not be ready until late 1989, the ‘G-Series’ was given one final update in 1984. Called the Carrera 3.2, the new car’s enlarged engine also received updated fuel injection and ignition controllers to raise output to 207hp in US-specification (in comparison to 180hp for the US-spec SC). Additionally, the larger engine brought more easily accessible torque, resulting in a somewhat more relaxed experience at low speeds.

Of course, the rest of the car was also revised, with the interior bringing previously optional equipment such as air conditioning and power windows as standard equipment in the US. While the 928 remained the company’s de-facto grand tourer, these updates lent a more ‘polished’ feel – something American enthusiasts were clamoring for. Unsurprisingly, the new model was an instant hit, especially when the aging 915 transmission was replaced with the far more robust G50. Both critics and enthusiasts praised its improved luxury that did not distract or inhibit the 911’s incredible driving feel. Today, these cars are some of the best choices for an enthusiasts “first 911” due to their exceptional driving dynamics and timeless good looks.

The investment-grade 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet featured here is finished in classic Guards Red over an impeccably kept Linen leather interior with a Black power convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has been meticulously maintained and was recently been subject to a major service by marque expert, Auto Europe of Atlanta, at a cost of over $17,000 and is now ready to be driven and enjoyed. We are proud to offer this incredible Porsche Cabriolet to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires only the very best!
