If you're looking to arrive in style, then it is hard to beat a car
like this 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Classy, sporty, and
stylish, this '88 model marks the last year of the 930 iteration of
the 911 and is one of fewer than 600 made, making it even more
collectible than your garden-variety Porsche, if there is such a
thing. Decked out in a classic, sleek black exterior and a matching
black convertible top, this 911 radiates elite status wherever it
goes, rain or shine.
Inside, we find a typically impressive grey leather Porsche
interior, which is to say, it will leave you wanting for nothing.
Power windows, air conditioning, an upgraded Alpine AM/FM/CD/AUX
head unit, and A flat-bottomed Momo steering wheel subtly remind
you that this is an upper-echelon sports car. A five-pod dashboard
featuring a large signature center-mounted 7,000-rpm tachometer
shows where this car's priorities are, while sliding HVAC controls
allow for ease of use without ever having to take your eyes off the
undoubtedly fast-approaching road ahead.
Out back, we find a rear-mounted 3.3-liter turbocharged, air-cooled
flat six cylinder engine. Sporting a stout iron block and
lightweight aluminum heads, this turbo roadster made 282 horsepower
and 289 pound-feet of torque when it first rolled off the assembly
line, and was capable of a low-five-second run to 60 mph with the
right driver behind the wheel. Power is funneled through a
tried-and-true four-speed manual transmission before its Porsche
transaxle sends those ponies to the rear wheels, where a set of
upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels waits, shod with a staggered set of
Yokohama tires measuring 255/40ZR-17 out back and narrower
225/45ZR-17s up front.
