While it may be impossible to get your hands on the one official
1967 GT500 convertible or the one 1968 GT500KR convertible ever
made, thankfully, we have this stunning 1967 Ford Mustang GT500CR
Convertible Restomod available for you today. No, the CR is not a
typo. While the KR stands for King of the Road, this CR designation
comes from its Classic Recreations conversion. Fully repainted in
this stunning red with white racing stripes motif, this Tribute
sports an Eleanor-inspired front clip, scooped and pinned hood,
centrally-mounted grille lights, quarter panel scoops,
ducktail-style rear spoiler, GT500CR rocker panel stripes, and an
integrated side-exit exhaust. In totality, this fantastic Ford
would make even Carroll Shelby nod and smile in approval.
Inside, we find a clean and custom black leather interior. A large
center console separates a pair of plush, supportive bucket seats,
while a power-assisted, wood-rimmed steering wheel boasts a Cobra
emblem center cap. A five-pod Classic Instruments gauge cluster
features a 10,000-rpm tachometer and a 200-mph speedometer. At the
same time, a pair of auxiliary gauges keeps tabs on oil pressure
and voltage from the center stack. A JVC AM/FM/AUX head unit offers
Bluetooth connectivity and powers a trunk-mounted amp and
subwoofers, as well as a myriad of cabin speakers.
Under that aggressive hood, we find an even more aggressive motor.
A supercharged 427 cubic-inch overhead valve crate V-8 engine.
Thanks to, an F1-D Procharger and intercooler supplying 19 pounds
of boost, this monster motor sends spent gases out through a set of
long-tube headers and dual exhaust capped off with a set of
MagnaFlow mufflers to produce enough power to make even the most
die-hard Shelby fan giggle. Power is routed through a
tried-and-true Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission before
heading out to the Fab 3.30-geared, nine-inch rear end.
