A Southern California-based, four-owner T6 356B finished in its
factory-correct Ruby Red (6202) over Beige upholstery, benefiting
from long-term local ownership and documented mechanical care
throughout its life.
The Ruby Red paintwork presents with an honest, well-preserved
finish, offering a rich tone and soft luster consistent with its
age. The exterior features period-style pinstriping around the hood
handle, headlight buckets, door handles, quarter windows, and
taillights. The exterior retains its original brightwork, lenses,
and glass, along with a set of Lucas driving lights. The interior
remains consistent with the car's character and features an
original deep-dish VDM steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, wooden
shift knob, and an original Blaupunkt radio. Chrome 4.5J x 15
ventilated wheels with Super hubcaps are fitted with Vredestein
Sprint Classic tires (165HR15). The undercarriage is well preserved
and presents straight, with no signs of corrosion or accident
damage.
This example carries unique period history, having been owned by
MGM in Southern California for approximately 37 years after being
imported from Germany. During that time, it is said to have been
used for period-correct film work, including appearances associated
with The Streets of San Francisco. The car was later owned by a 356
Club Director before passing to its fourth owner in the late 2000s.
The car was reportedly cosmetically restored in the early 2000s and
has since been maintained by well-regarded specialists including
Willhoit Auto Restoration and The Parts Shop. On October 9, 2005,
Jack Staggs performed a complete engine overhaul, including
replacement of pistons and cylinders, cylinder head work, and a
full reseal. In 2014, the car showed 2,380 miles and has since been
driven to 9,647 miles with continued maintenance.
Power is supplied by a 1600cc flat-four engine (Type 616/36)
producing 95 horsepower, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission.
Recent service work includes suspension and alignment work by
Johnson's Alignment in 2020, including rear spring plate service,
new bushings, and replacement of the steering dampener. Willhoit
replaced the axle boots that same year. The fuel pump was rebuilt
in 2023 by The Parts Shop, which has also performed routine
servicing in recent years including oil service, parking brake
adjustment, and replacement of fuel lines and filters. The car is
offered with its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, spare wheel,
jack, two keys, and more than four decades of service history. A
well-documented T6 356B Coupe finished in its factory color, this
example offers an appealing combination of period character,
long-term ownership, and consistent mechanical care.
