Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this
1981 GMC Caballero, a machine that perfectly blends raw power with
meticulous craftsmanship. Finished in a striking PPG Orange Glow
exterior, this Caballero commands attention from every angle. The
black interior creates a bold yet comfortable cockpit, featuring
racing-style seats with Sparco harnesses that keep you firmly
planted. Within reach, the B&M shifter and integrated nitrous
button hint at the serious performance capability beneath the
hood.
This isn't your average Caballero it's a purpose-built street and
strip bruiser with attitude to match. Drenched in eye-catching
Orange Glow and sitting on massive Mickey Thompson rubber, this
tubbed drag build was designed to turn heads and hit hard. With
nitrous at your fingertips and a full roll cage behind you, this
truck isn't just built to cruise it's built to make a statement
every time it hits the street or the strip.
At the heart of this build lies a 355 CID V8, brought to life with
Dart heads and an 871 BDS supercharger. Twin 750 Holley Double
Pumper carburetors feed the engine, while Speed Pro pistons, Eagle
H-beam rods, and an Eagle 4340 crankshaft ensure durability and
precision under pressure. This setup produces an impressive 597
horsepower at 6400 RPM. Power is sent through a Turbo 350
transmission with a reverse valve body and a 3500 stall converter,
delivering firm, responsive shifts every time.
Out back, a narrowed Ford 9-inch rear end with 4.56 gears and
Bear's axles puts the power to the ground. Mickey Thompson tires
26x7.50x15 up front and a massive 31x18.50x15 in the rear provide
exceptional grip. The full air ride suspension offers ride comfort
when cruising, while tubbed rear fenders, narrowed tubular A-arms,
and Strange Engineering disc brakes and hubs ensure this Caballero
performs just as well as it accelerates.
Inside, performance meets convenience. A Panasonic AM/FM radio
paired with a 7.5-inch DVD screen, Kicker amplifier, and 12-inch
subwoofer delivers a premium audio experience. Auto Meter gauges
keep you informed, while power windows, power steering, and power
brakes add everyday usability. A 4-link with wishbone setup
enhances stability, and the Wildgoose custom roll cage adds an
extra layer of safety.
Whether cruising through town or making a statement at the strip,
this 1981 GMC Caballero delivers an unforgettable driving
experience. The vibrant paint, aggressive stance, and unmistakable
exhaust note ensure all eyes are on you wherever you go.
