--Malvern Brown with Creme Connolly leather piped Brown and Brown
Wilton wool carpeting edged, Brown Carpeting Piped Creme, 5.3 Liter
V8, Automatic Gearbox, 44k Miles from new, Long Term collector
ownership. The Aston Martin Lagonda was THE sensation of the 1976
London Motor Show. Production didn't truly begin until 1978. In its
first two years of production, only 16 cars were completed. The
earlier Lagonda V8 (essentially a lengthened V8 Saloon) is known as
the series 1. The wedge shaped Lagonda's are known as the series 2,
3 and 4, based on engine spec and body style. The factory has
tended to differentiate Lagonda's by instrument type. This Series 2
Lagonda has been previous long term collector ownership. This
Lagonda is excellent other than a tear in the driver's seat, easily
repaired-recovered but which the previous owner decided to leave as
is due to its being the original leather throughout. The condition
of this Lagonda is not the norm, it has been well cared for
throughout its lifetime and within its most recent ownership. It is
solid and without the normal rust issues that accompany many
Lagonda's that have been used in inclement weather conditions. It
was originally delivered in European specification. In this
specification this Lagonda did not have catalysts as well as
European carburetor airbox rather than the cumbersome Federal
sealed airbox and exhaust systems which stifles engine
performance. This Lagonda is powered by an all alloy dohc 5.4 liter
V8 developing 305 bhp @ 5500 rpm and 288 lb. ft. of torque @ 5500
rpm, 6.5 seconds 0-60 with a top speed of 150 mph. All interior
functions are working as they were originally meant which means
they are working as only an early series Lagonda owner can
understand. Although all electronics were advanced for their day,
they can be finicky. This said, today all functions are working up
to par and thus will give its new owner pleasure rather than
anxiety. The air conditioning is also working properly. If you are
seeking a proper earlier series Lagonda, in exceptional condition
this is a rare find. It is complete with books and warning
triangle.
