Announced in 2015 at the Geneva Auto Show, the GT4 was the first
Cayman to wear the "GT" badge. Based on the 981 Cayman that was
first introduced in 2012, the mid-engine GT4 used the potent
powerplant from the 911 Carrera S that produced a stout 385
horsepower. Its front suspension and steering were sourced from the
track-focused 911 GT3, making it a capable and worthy performer.
With the announcement that the new 911 GT3 and GT3 RS would not be
offered with a manual transmission, the GT4 was a godsend with its
6-speed manual transmission as its only gearbox option and remains
immensely popular in Porsche's enthusiast circles. With a few
aesthetic changes to the front fascia, more aggressive side inlets
and a fixed motorsports-inspired wing, the GT4 stands out against
its otherwise pedestrian Cayman siblings. Porsche proved that the
development did pay off by lapping the North Loop of the
Nrburgring in seven minutes and 40 seconds - on the same level as
the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3.
This 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 was produced on February 1st, 2016,
spec'd in Jet Black Metallic with a Black Leather interior.
Featuring the 3.8L naturally aspirated flat six engine producing
385 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque, it is mated to a 6-speed
manual transmission and rear wheel drive, the only drivetrain
configuration available. The GT4 was optioned with over $16,000 of
Porsche factory options, resulting in an MSRP of $101,820. Some of
the notable options include the full carbon bucket seats lifted
directly from Porsche's 918 hypercar, and others including:

Purchased by a Bay Area, California native, the Cayman GT4 remained
with this caretaker for its entire life since 2016. A personal
friend of Bruce Canepa for over 25 years, the car has been
exceptionally taken care of resulting in its like-new condition
along with only 3,429 miles since delivery. Upon arriving at
Canepa, it was evident that it was a prized member of their Porsche
collection. The Cayman GT4 was entered into the "Canepa Difference"
process where it was thoroughly inspected both mechanically and
cosmetically. Mechanically sound, it was treated to a light foam
pad polish of the Jet Black Metallic paint, a detailed cleaning of
the interior, and hand cleaning underneath the car.
With this GT3-derived Cayman, Porsche changed the game. Continually
offering enthusiasts the best there is to drive is one of Porsche's
winning characteristics as a legacy car maker, and the investments
made into their platforms often pay off in spades. This 2016
Porsche Cayman GT4, with just 3,429 miles, one owner in the Bay
Area since new and heavily optioned, is the chance for someone to
experience a Cayman GT4 just like it was in 2016. With that flat 6
soundtrack reverberating behind you as you shift your gears and put
all the power down to the ground with only the rear wheels, you can
feel and hear in real time why the Cayman GT4 is such a joy to
experience and drive.
