Merely referring to this 2002 Chevrolet Silverado as "clean" would
qualify as an understatement. This post-millennial workhorse has
logged more than two decades of faithful services and it's looking
and running pretty much as it did upon its debut. Diligent care has
a lot to do with that, as it has been serviced at every
GM-recommended interval throughout its lifetime, and consistent
sheltering has left its original Summit White paint in top form,
with a nice shine and no concerning blemishes. Rolling on a set of
20" late model Chevrolet wheels and showing tight consistent body
lines from front to back, this vintage Chevy is, by any measure, a
great-looking truck.
You'll find that the graphite cloth interior has come through the
years in similarly strong fashion. The bench seat shows no
noticeable discoloration and only very minimal wear and, in fact,
its covering still has an impressively tight fit. The center
console can be folded down to create a third seat and farther
forward, the dash features its array of amenities that are still in
good working order, including a factory AM/FM radio and air
conditioning. Everything inside these doors seems to prioritize
functionality, with no temperamental, wear-prone options in the mix
and that objective has certainly been accomplished. As an added
bonus, this truck was owned by a non-smoker who, from the
still-fresh smell of the cockpit, didn't allow passengers to
partake either.
The original 4.8-liter V8 has been the most obvious beneficiary of
that previously mentioned maintenance. It's running strong, firing
up on cue and pairing with a 4-speed automatic 4L60E transmission
with an overdrive gear for low-RPM highway driving. In keeping with
the rest of this Chevy's thoroughly original configuration, nothing
beneath the hood appears to have been modified and, judging from
the condition of the components inside the engine bay, it's seen
more than a few sessions of steam cleaning over the years. Power
steering makes this Silverado easy to navigate, while power disc
brakes at all four corners bring it to a stop in a hurry. Because
of its two-wheel drive configuration, it also gets better gas
mileage than you'd likely expect.
