The shape and allure of a classic C3 Corvette are impossible for
almost anyone to deny. Its iconic status has inspired books, songs,
and fantasies of young children since 1953. One look at this
numbers-matching 1979 Chevrolet Corvette L82, decked out in its
believed original Classic White exterior, and it is easy to see
why. The sinewy Coke bottle shape, wonderfully practical T-top
roof, and overall factory appearance of this 'Vette let you travel
back in time to the back end of the third generation of Chevy's
halo car.
Under the removable glass tops, inside, we find a contrasting black
leather interior that appears to be stock, correct, and is most
likely original. A tilt power-assisted steering wheel, power
windows, and locks offer modern amenities for a late 1970s car. And
while the belt is currently removed, this car is equipped with air
conditioning. A retro-style head unit blends in nicely while
offering AM/FM/AUX and Bluetooth connectivity to drastically expand
your soundtrack choices.
Under the hood, we find a numbers-matching L82 350-cubic-inch V-8
topped by a single four-barrel Holley carburetor and a stock intake
manifold. Long-tube headers flow into a dual FlowMaster exhaust,
giving this small block the throaty growl it deserves. From the
factory, the L82 produced 225 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of
torque, while this car's upgraded exhaust undoubtedly allows this
car to make a bit more. Those ponies, whatever the number, are
funneled through a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission before
being sent out to the Corvette rear.
