Finished in Stuttgart, Zuffenhausen in February 1980, this 911 SC
Coupe's Porsche Product Specifications (PPS) sheet records that it
was specified in optional Light Metallic Blue. The rare, extra cost
color is a welcome respite from the standard fare of the era and
gives the coupe body a light and elegant appearance.
By the late 1990s the U.S.-market 911 SC Coupe was located in
Oregon and in 2000 acquired by its caretaker of 22 years with
99,000 miles. As noted on the Pelican Parts Forum in 2022, the car
was an original example listed with less than 115,000 miles, a
number believed to be original. That year the SC was acquired by
the Avant Garde Collection. A six-page invoice on file from Avant
Garde documents an engine rebuild down to the head studs with SSI
stainless heat exchangers and a sport muffler. Additional work
listed includes a wheel refinish for its 16x7- and 8-inch Turbo
Fuchs, a new dash pad, and servicing that included a brake system
rebuild, new filters, and new shift bushings among other items. The
car is lowered to Rest of World (RoW) ride height and fitted with
Bilstein struts and shock absorbers.
In March 2023, the Light Metallic Blue Coupe was acquired by the
consignor who saw it as the ideal canvas for additional upgrades
and light modifications. The 911's interior received a retrim with
Clark Ancient tartan fabric that covers the 911's Recaro sport
seats, door panels, and rear seats along with black square weave
carpeting and Coco floor mats. A vintage-look Bluetooth stereo is
fitted along with a Griffiths Kuehl air conditioning kit ideal for
the warm summer months.
The exterior features the removal of the rear bumperettes for a
cleaner look. Sonderwerks of Cornelius, North Carolina refinished
the front bumper, rocker trim, and lower rear fender trim in Light
Metallic Blue and the exterior window trim was refinished in matte
black. Headlight upgrades from JWest Engineering (relay kit) and
Audette Platinum Series LEDs were completed by Avant Garde.
Finally, the 3.0-liter flat-six's CIS and intake systems were gone
through with new injectors, fuel distributor, warm-up regulator,
fuel accumulator and filter, and a replacement airbox with pop-off
valve.
It is clear that much thought and expense has been invested in this
Light Metallic Blue 911 SC Coupe in recent years. At the time of
consignment, it features 118,485 miles with just under 4,000 mi
accumulated since its thorough refresh since leaving its
two-decade-long ownership in 2022. With subtle visual enhancements
and improved performance, this 911 SC is ideally suited for the
enthusiast seeking a well-sorted, tastefully enhanced example of
the classic G-Body Porsche to enjoy on the road.
