Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer a very sharp 1965
Chevrolet El Camino. Chevrolet introduced the El Camino in 1959 as
a result of a suggestion from automotive great Harley Earl. The
"Coupe Utility" was based on the Brookwood two-door station wagon
and offered a full-sized pickup bed in a highly styled, low-slung
sedan body. The vehicle was an immediate success, outselling its
Ford competitor, the Rancher,o nearly 2 to 1. The second
generation, starting in 1964, was based on the Chevelle chassis but
initially did not offer the high-horsepower Chevelle powerplants.
In 1965, a slight facelift was introduced, along with the
availability of more engines, including a high-performance 350 HP
327 CI V8.
This particular 1965 El Camino features a 327 CI high compression
block that has been bored .030 over, emulating what an L79 would
have produced from the factory. The engine is paired with a Muncie
4-speed manual transmission, delivering a hands-on, connected
driving experience. The vehicle comes equipped with power steering
and power brakes to enhance drivability, as well as air
conditioning for added comfort. With just 2550 miles since the
restoration was completed in 2019, this El Camino is presented in a
striking metallic maroon finish that complements its bold
presence.
Inside, the cabin has been outfitted with new Corbeau bucket seats
upholstered in tan vinyl with rustic brown accents, matched by a
newly installed tan carpet kit. Additional enhancements include a
tilt steering column, a new steering wheel, and a modern stereo
system, blending comfort with functionality. The dashboard retains
a classic look while offering upgraded amenities for everyday
enjoyment. The vehicle rides on Chevy rally wheels wrapped in
redline radial tires, giving it a period-correct yet aggressive
stance.
Whether cruising through town or parked at a local car show, this
El Camino commands attention with its unmistakable profile and the
deep rumble of its dual exhaust. This Chevrolet El Camino is listed
by our Dallas Showroom and can be viewed in greater detail
