1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Convertible. RESTORED
numbers-matching engine. This Chevelle underwent an engine-out
frame-off restoration, with documentation and photos spanning from
2006 to 2011 showing the car being carefully disassembled,
refinished in black paint, and restored. Originally Monoco Orange,
In 1969, code 72 (or 72/72 for upper/lower) was often a
special-order color for SS396 cars, serving as an indicator of a
true SS, along with code 76 (Daytona Yellow). Power comes from its
numbers, matching 396 V8 engine, which displaces 402 cubic inches,
paired with an M-21 4-speed manual transmission and backed by a
12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears. Previously restored under the
ownership of a NASA engineer in Cape Canaveral, this car received a
comprehensive body and paint work restoration in Orlando, Florida,
in 2011. Included paperwork suggests this Chevelle has potentially
had only five owners since new, with each owner keeping the car
around 10 years a strong indication that this is a car that has
been appreciated, preserved, and passed along with care over the
years. It retains much of its original character while benefiting
from several thoughtful upgrades that make it more enjoyable to own
and drive. Features include a Holley Sniper EFI system, power
steering, power brakes, power vinyl convertible top with boot,
Vintage Air-conditioning, Chrome American Racing wheels, wrapped in
235/60R15 tires on front and rear. Additional highlights include
re-chromed front and rear bumpers, new weatherstripping, chrome
exhaust tips, dual H-pipe configuration, a clean lightly
undercoated underside, new front and rear springs, new shocks(front
and back), rear sway bar, boxed trailing arms, new fuel tank, MSD
spark plug wires, new windshield wiper motor, ceramic-coated
headers, a newer vinyl top, and a Bluetooth-capable stereo. A
well-documented, well-restored SS Convertible with an excellent
balance of originality, drivability, and tasteful upgrades. Rare,
beautifully presented, and truly driver-friendly. Showing 80,904
miles on the odometer, approximately 10,000 miles since restored.
