Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1974 MG MGB Roadster. This
MG is a nicely-restored example that looks, runs, and drives great.
It was restored as a "Covid project" by the previous owner over the
course of three years after he purchased it out of long-term indoor
storage in North Carolina. It had been parked for nearly three
decades in a garage after the clutch hydraulics packed up, and the
mileage is believed original at 63,000. Never a rusty car, it was
taken apart and repainted in a slightly brighter shade of its
original color, "Tundra" or olive green.
Paint quality is very nice, likely nicer than it left the factory,
and it turns heads and garners compliments wherever it's driven.
The interior and trunk were painted; original paint remains in the
engine compartment. Most chrome and trim was replaced, and all
rubber seals including windshield frame to body seal were replaced.
Bumpers are original and show minor patina; 1974 was the last year
of the chrome-bumper B before the switch to rubber bumpers in '75.
New tires are mounted on powder-coated stock 14-inch wheels.
All new interior was fitted with correct materials, new door cards,
upholstery, carpet, chrome door sills plates, seatbelts, etc. It
has a new vinyl top over a restored top frame as well. All gauges,
lights and indicators are working.
The 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine was serviced, carburetors were
professionally rebuilt, along with all new ignition and cooling
system components including radiator and alternator. A solid-state
(but original style) fuel pump was fitted; all new brakes and
hydraulics, completely rebuilt front end and the list goes on. Gas
bonnet and boot lid struts are a nice touch as well. It has been
"de smogged" - although the original smog pump and components are
included along with many new and spare parts, literature, spare
wheel and jack in original bag. Runs and drives well and the
four-speed manual gearbox feels good with no crunchy synchros. This
is a turn-key MGB in a great color, ready for touring or cars and
coffee.
