This 1962 Chevrolet Nova is an all-out Pro Street build that
perfectly blends classic early-'60s styling with modern LS
performance and serious chassis engineering. Finished in a rich
metallic brown sourced from a 2020 GMC Sierra and paired with a
clean black interior, the car has an aggressive yet refined
presence. Sitting on 17" Boze wheels finished in Highland Bronze
powder coat and wrapped in near-new tires, the stance is exactly
what you want-wide, planted, and purposeful thanks to its
mini-tubbed rear and upgraded suspension setup.
Under the hood is a 2008 LY6 6.0L LS engine, sourced as a low-mile
takeout with just 23K miles and thoughtfully upgraded for
performance and reliability. It features forged Wiseco pistons with
a mild dome, yielding an 11.2:1 compression ratio that still runs
comfortably on 91-93 pump gas. The bottom end remains stout and
stock bore, paired with a Comp camshaft designed for square port
heads. Stainless Works headers feed into a full Pypes stainless
exhaust with an H-pipe, and the entire setup is dialed in with a
custom dyno tune by Norris Motorsports using the OEM computer. The
result is a strong, responsive LS combination that delivers modern
power with classic attitude.
Backing the powerplant is a ZF6 Black Label 6-speed manual
transmission paired with a short throw shifter and a Luk ZR1-style
clutch, offering a raw, driver-focused experience. Power is
transferred through a Patterson 1000hp-rated driveshaft to a
fortified GM 10-bolt rear end featuring Dana 4.10 gears, a Detroit
TruTrac posi unit, and Ford 9-inch ends converted to accept bolt-in
9" axles and bearings from Mitchell Differential. A forged pinion
yoke and rear disc brakes round out a drivetrain built to handle
serious power.
The chassis and suspension have been completely reworked with
performance and safety in mind. A TCI Pro Touring front clip and
TCI rear 4-link system provide modern handling characteristics,
while subframe bracing adds rigidity throughout. Stopping power
comes from a Wilwood 6-piston big brake kit up front, paired with a
Wilwood master cylinder and all new brake lines. The car is further
reinforced with a 6-point chromoly S&W roll bar built to NHRA
spec, making it as capable on the strip as it is intimidating on
the street.
Inside, the Nova features a race-inspired yet clean and functional
cockpit. Sparco racing seats with 5-point harnesses keep you
planted, while an IDIDIT tilt steering column and a full set of VDO
gauges-including a GPS-calibrated speedometer via Dakota
Digital-bring modern usability into the mix. The interior has been
refreshed with new carpet, headliner, dome light lens, door
hardware, window regulators, and weather stripping, creating a
tight and well-finished cabin.
The exterior has undergone an extensive restoration with all new
glass, bumpers, trim, and key body panels including the hood,
fenders, doors, and full quarters. The underside of all panels has
been undercoated, and finishing touches like the correct 1962
grille, drip rail trim, and tail lights keep the car true to its
roots while elevating its overall presentation.
This Nova is not just a build-it's a fully sorted Pro Street
machine with high-end components, thoughtful engineering, and a
presence that stands out anywhere it goes. Whether you're looking
for a show-stopper, a weekend street car, or something capable of
serious performance, this one checks every box.
