This unbelievable 1985 Honda ATC 250ES Big Red is new and never ridden. Yes, you're looking collectors dream machine that looks like it did when rolled off the dealership showroom 41- years ago. The Honda ATC Big Red was produced from 1982 to 1987. It was first introduced as a 200E model and was upgraded to a 250ES model in 1985. The Honda ATC 250ES Big Red was produced from 1985 to 1987 totaling over 140,000 units with 1985 being the highest production year totaling 109,842 units. The 1985-1987 Honda ATC 250ES Big Red is a highly regarded, utility-focused three-wheeler featuring a 246cc four-stroke engine, electric start, 5-speed transmission with reverse and full suspension. Designed for work, it introduced features like flip-up rear fenders, a removable headlight/work light and a high-capacity rack. It's known for its durability, power and high rear carrying capacity. The 1985-1987 250ES models are considered the holy grail of utility focused three-wheelers. As the original manufactures tag indicates this example was built in December of 1984. The original Honda Certificate of Origin was issued on May 6th, 1985. The MSO documents the original serial number stamp and the engine number stamp. It also documents the original selling Honda dealership was Laube's Cycle City located in Findlay, Ohio. Their also doing business as (DBA) Wheelin' Works USA. It was purchased by Richard “Dick” Miller who lives in Findlay, Ohio. Dick is currently 89 years old and is the proud owner of Red's and Dick's Auto Sales also located in Findlay, Ohio. Dick and his father Red purchased the property in 1954 and started the used car business together in 1974. Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS spoke with Dick on March 20th, 2026 and got confirmation this example is new and unridden. Dick originally purchased the ATC to pull his drag race car at the track but that never happened. He ended up never using it but kept it stored in a climate controlled facility. He would start it every few years to keep the engine parts moving. He sold it roughly 15 years ago to a gentleman who owns a museum. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased it on March 8th, 2026 and March 20th is the first time it's been listed for sale by MS CLASSIC CARS. The original Honda Certificate of Origin, original Honda Distributers Limited Warranty Form, original Honda owner's manual, original Honda brochure and copy of the original dealership Bill of Sale which is faded are included. A new set of plastic vehicle lift blocks are also included for display purposes.
This 1985 Honda ATC 250ES Big Red is truly stunning in every sense of the word. It's in showroom fresh condition which isn't always the case with 40+ year old vehicles that have been improperly stored. This example was clearly handled with the best of care and stored in a climate controlled facility its entire life. It was recently detailed from top to bottom by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. A walk-around presentation video is listed in the gallery. 1985 was the first year the Big Red had rear suspension. The rear swingarm suspension was designed for stability and comfort. It's equipped with hydraulic telescopic forks with 4.5-inch travel and a single hydraulic shock with five-way adjustable preload with 4.3-inch travel. The engine displacement increased to 246cc and the sub-transmission low range was eliminated. The rear fenders were designed to be flipped up for easier maintenance as compared to earlier models. The headlight is designed to be removed for use as a spotlight or work-light. It's powered by a 246cc OHC single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a 27mm piston valve carburetor. It's equipped with both a heavy-duty electric starter and kick starter. It's also equipped with a five-speed transmission with super-low plus reverse. It has abundant torque down low with 850 pounds of towing capacity. The brakes consist of a front drum with fully-sealed rear drum. It rolls on the original date coded and factory stamped Ohtsu Pro Am 501 25x12.00-9 tires. The fuel capacity is 3.2 gallons including .05 gallon reserve. Some other features include an automatic cam-chain tensioner, automatic clutch, front carrier rack, rear rack with 100 pounds capacity, trailer hitch, 12-liter storage compartment and 15-amp accessory terminal.
