This 1984 Chevrolet Corvette, VIN 1G1AY0784E5147787, is an
incredible time capsule showing just 7,840 original miles. Verified
by a clean Carfax, this ultra-low-mileage survivor is a high-spec,
performance-oriented build featuring the legendary Z51 Performance
Handling Package. Finished in factory Black (41L/41U) over a
Graphite (12I/122) interior, this Bowling Green-built coupe
represents the absolute cutting edge of 1984. Finding a first-year
C4 with this level of originality and such low mileage is a rare
opportunity for any serious collector.
The Factory Build (SPID Decoded)
The Service Parts Identification (SPID) label confirms this car was
loaded from the factory with the most desirable performance and
convenience options available:
Z51 Performance Handling Package: Includes the FE7 High Performance
Suspension, stiffer springs, larger sway bars, and a quick-ratio
steering gear.
L83 5.7L V8: The classic 350ci engine featuring Cross-Fire
Injection.
MD8 4-speed Automatic: The THM 700-R4 transmission with
overdrive.
Performance Cooling: Factory equipped with the KC4 Engine Oil
Cooler and V01 Heavy Duty Radiator.
Standard Z51 Equipment: P255/50VR16 tires (QZD) and heavy-duty
components designed for the track.
Exterior
The car is finished in its original, sinister Black (41L). The body
is in great shape and remains very original, showing only the
"normal bumps and bruises" you would expect from a 40-year-old
survivor. A major highlight is the CC3 Removable Transparent Roof
Panel, which is in excellent condition. We have rebuilt the
headlight motors, and they function perfectly. The car sits on its
original Z51 wheels with tires that remain in great shape. While
the power antenna is currently inop, the radio still pulls a strong
signal.
Interior
The Graphite (122) interior is in fantastic condition and is
entirely consistent with a 7k-mile car. The cabin is free from
odors, and the carpets are in great shape, still protected by the
original floor mats. High-tech 1984 amenities include the AG9 6-way
Power Driver Seat, AU3 Power Locks, and the UQ4 Bose Speaker
System. All interior features-including the telemetry, radio,
wipers, and lights-function properly. The AC system appears to be
in good shape, though it remains on the original R12 refrigerant
and has not yet been converted or tested.
Underhood & Underbody
Under the hood is the L83 5.7L V8, which runs perfectly and makes
great power. The engine bay is tidy and highly original, exactly as
you would expect for the mileage. The underside is equally clean
and original, showcasing the rigid Z51 suspension components. This
Corvette has clearly been pampered and preserved, avoiding the
modifications or abuse common with many C4s.
Driving
Driving this Corvette is a true "new car" experience from 1984. It
runs and drives fantastic, pulling strong with that signature Small
Block torque. The transmission shifts exactly as it should, and the
car stops confidently and straight. The Z51 suspension is famously
stiff and track-focused, giving this car a level of handling and
road-feel that defined the era.
Conclusion
With only 7,840 verified miles, a clean Carfax, and the desirable
Z51 package, this is one of the most honest and accurate 1984
Corvettes on the market. It offers a raw, connected driving
experience in a stunning Triple-Black colorway. Please note: We
only have what is seen in the photos and video; we encourage you to
review the SPID label and ultra-low mileage verification to
appreciate this unique survivor.
