The first generation of the Mustang is divided into two groups,
marked by the 1969 redesign. As you can see at a glance, this
R-Code 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet was exceptionally
well done. Showing off the beauty of the later years of this Pony
Car's first generation, this fully repainted Ford in Candy Apple
Red has been owned by the seller since 1999 and was restored in
2017. With its aggressive hood scoop, body-length black side
decals, and sleek fastback design highlighted by a slick rear deck
spoiler, this Mach 1 looks every bit the part of what a true Golden
Age muscle car should be.
Inside, we see the evolution of the Mustang interior. Plush Mach 1
bucket seats, separated by a center console that provides armrests
and storage, are decked out in clean black knitted vinyl. A
wood-rimmed three-spoke power-assisted steering wheel with a
Mustang emblem center cap sits just ahead of a four-pod gauge
cluster with a big tachometer and a matching speedometer, split by
smaller fuel and temperature gauges on either side. Sliding HVAC
controls in this factory AC car keep things simple when it comes to
climate control, while a Bluetooth-enabled retro-style AM/FM/AUX
head unit offers the luxury of modern technology where it is most
appreciated.
Under that aggressively styled hood, we find an equally aggressive
engine: a period-correct, rebuilt, and blueprinted 428-cubic-inch
Cobra Jet V-8. Fed by a single four-barrel carburetor, this
big-block expels spent gases through a factory exhaust manifold
before dual exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers, giving this Pony
Car a truly authentic sound. Originally an automatic-equipped car,
this Mach 1 has been upgraded (in our eyes, anyway) with a far more
fun Toploader four-speed close-ratio manual transmission that
routes power to the pavement via a 9-inch rear outfitted with an
owner-stated 3.50:1 Traction-Lok gear setup.

This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet rides on a
factory-style suspension upgraded with KYB shocks, and because the
rear staggered shocks were only available with factory four-speed
cars, this Mustang has the correct factory upper brackets welded
into place thanks to a donor car. Power brakes with front discs sit
behind 15-inch Magnum 500 wheels shod in BFGoodrich tires. This
collectible Mach 1 also comes with a full Marti Report and plenty
of restoration photos, providing all the provenance required for
the avid collector. There is nothing quite like a first-generation
Mustang, but if you've never experienced it for yourself, or just
want to experience it again, then don't wait another second. Call
