1976 Datsun 280Z For Sale
This 1976 Datsun 280Z has been extensively rebuilt and now runs a
swapped 2.0L RB20 inline-six paired with a 5-speed manual
transmission. While the S30 chassis is already well-regarded for
its light weight, long-hood proportions, and strong enthusiast
following, this example has been taken well beyond its factory
configuration with a substantial list of performance, drivetrain,
suspension, and cosmetic upgrades.
The drivetrain build centers around the turbocharged RB20 setup,
with the engine showing roughly 2,000 miles since refresh. It is
equipped with a CX Racing turbo kit currently set at 12 psi, along
with DeatschWerks 900cc injectors, an NPBoosted intake manifold,
Wiring Specialties swap harness, ECU Master EMU engine management,
and a 90mm throttle body. Per the current owner, the car is on a
remote tune that could still use further dialing-in to better
accommodate that throttle body, which is useful context for the
next owner.
The rest of the build follows the same theme. A Techno Toy Tuning
suspension kit, Wilwood big brake package with dual-caliper rear
setup, Traction Concepts LSD with Milkfab axle adapters and 280ZX
axles, and a GKTech short shifter all work together to make this a
much more serious driver than a stock 280Z. Volk TE37 wheels
wrapped in Toyo R888R tires reinforce that purpose-built
approach.
Visually, this Z keeps the classic S30 profile while adding a
number of tasteful changes. It wears a 240Z front lip, JDM tail
lights, Holley Retro headlights, and numerous Skillard components.
The gas tank has been shaved so fueling is handled behind the
license plate, and the side markers, mirrors, and antenna have also
been shaved for a cleaner overall look.
Inside, the car has been updated with Speedhut JDM-style digital
gauges, and a new carpet kit is included with the sale. Taken as a
whole, this is not presented as a stock or lightly modified vintage
Z. It is a substantially reworked S30 built around RB-series turbo
power, upgraded driveline components, modern engine management, and
a cleaner custom finish that still respects the original shape that
made these cars so well-liked in the first place.
