With some nice aesthetic modifications added to its already
considerable native curb appeal, this 1939 Chevrolet Master 85 2
Door Sedan is the embodiment of pre-War automotive stylishness.
It's draped in striking Pearl Blue paint that suits it perfectly,
with accompanying brightwork that really looks great. And check out
that prominent front grille. Take a lap around this well-configured
classic, and you'll notice its consistent body panel alignment,
with doors that open and close smoothly and no sagging to be found.
Better still, this visual awesomeness is combined with a running
condition that's truly hard to come by, so this Chevy is ready to
enjoy just as soon as you bring it home.
The blue cloth interior is in good shape, and you can see that it
was configured with comfort in mind. Both rows of bench seating,
sourced from a decidedly more modern car, are well-padded and
because of its generous proportions, there's plenty of shoulder and
leg room inside these doors. The carpeting below is in matching
condition and is punctuated with a set of Chevrolet floor mats that
add a nice finishing touch. Up front, the color-matched dash area
harbors a set of VDO gauges in the instrument cluster with
appropriately antique-style graphics, surrounded by an aluminum
bezel that adds some contrast to its surroundings. An aftermarket
Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo has been added to provide the soundtrack for
your journeys.
Chevy's Master 85s have long been revered for their style, but this
one also offers a level of drivability you won't easily find among
its counterparts. Its 350-cubic-inch V8, armed with an Edelbrock
four-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake manifold, fires up right
on cue and packs plenty of power to make for a smile-inducing
experience behind the wheel. Its street manners are beyond
reproach, as well, as it features a four-speed automatic 700R4
transmission with an overdrive gear for low revs at highway speeds.
Power rack and pinion steering makes for easy maneuvering and power
brakes that position discs in front bring prompt, low-effort stops.
Up front, a sizable aluminum radiator pairs with dual electric fans
to ensure that this vintage Chevy doesn't lose its cool in
demanding driving conditions as it cruises on its set of 15" Rally
wheels, wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A radials that still show plenty
of tread.
