For Sale: 1963 Ford Falcon in Pembroke, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

Here we have a somewhat rare BIRD (No pun intended :). A 1963 1/2 Falcon Sprint. Introduced for the spring of 1963 as a mid year entry, the Sprint model was part of a new 'Total Performance' introduction to the Ford lineup. The Sprint added a sporty flare to the otherwise, somewhat uninspiring Falcon line. This car became the basis for the upcoming Mustang. The Sprint came standard with a lively 164 HP 260 V8, bucket seats with console, special badging and spinner wheel covers. This model was only offered in a two door hardtop or convertible configuration. Just 15,081 Sprints were produced for the 63 model year and just 4,602 of those were convertibles like we are offering here! A two speed Fordomatic or four speed manual transmission was offered. Here we have the column shifted automatic.

Fully restored about 25 years ago, this car was purchased and restored for the most recent owners family, specifically wife to cruise around in during warmer months. This car quickly became part of the family and stuck around a long time. The restoration was quite an undertaking but one the talented owner was not afraid to tackle. Although not a body man by trade, he was a tradesman that took a lot of pride in his work and wanted this car to be done right. A complete new undercarriage was installed using mostly reproduction sheet metal from Dearborn Classics. Some home made panels were also used but done well and clean. The lower rear quarter panels were replaced with fresh sheet metal and carefully welded into place. Some plastic filler is evident but not much and none of it is showing from the outside. The restoration has held up amazingly well.

Like the exterior, the interior was also completely overhauled, mostly with exact reproduction products from Dearborn Classics . Other than some light fading on some of the red (His wife never drove it with the top up.), it's held up extremely well as shown in the picture gallery.

Mechanically the car was also completely rebuilt during restoration. The original 260 V8 was removed and sent out to be rebuilt. Transmission too. Wait, it gets better.... The four wheel manual drum brakes were also completely replaced with upgraded FOUR WHEEL POWER DISC BRAKES! Along with that came 14" wheels and tires. I think they fit the wheel wells nicely and create no rubbing. So you can see, there was no expense or time spared.

All being said, most of this work was preformed 25 years ago an the car has been driven approximately 40K miles since. It's now an old restoration. Although having held up extremely well, it's still showing it's age. A few chips of the paint. Some fading of the interior bits. Older, minor corrosion evident on the trunk floor (see pics). Some undercarriage scale, ect. We don't consider this a show winner, just a fantastic, reliable, turn key driver you can be proud of.

Some of the more recent maintenance performed in 2025 is a fresh tune-up and a rebuilding of the carburator. This car runs and drives beautifully. Stops better than most Falcons out there too!
