INTRODUCTION: Don't compare this to the others-this one stands
apart. It's a factory Tuxedo Black, no vinyl top SS 454, born with
cowl induction, gauges, and a 4-speed! On top of that, it's a
numbers matching motor, includes a copy of the build sheet, and is
in truly impressive condition throughout.
EXTERIOR: This is truly a black beauty! The body has outstanding
fit and finish-about as good as you'll find! Precise gaps and
panels that are laser-straight from the rockers to the roof. It
features the highly desirable original cowl induction hood with a
functional flapper door. Refinished in its factory Tuxedo Black
without a vinyl top, it looks better than it ever did new, with
correctly painted white SS stripes and a mirror-like shine. The
front and rear glass are new, the moldings are straight and
polished, and the bumpers shine bright. It's sitting on a restored
set of 15-inch SS wheels wrapped in Cooper GT tires, giving it the
perfect stance. I need to say it again - this body is amazing!
INTERIOR: The interior looks practically new and is loaded with
great features! The dash area has been beautifully restored and
includes factory gauges including a tachometer, along with an AM/FM
radio that looks original but has modern internals. Down on the
floor is fresh carpet with reproduction mats, a complete set of
original seat belts, and a center console with the factory 4-speed
shifter. The seats have been re-cushioned and reupholstered, while
the door panels and armrests have been replaced. The headliner and
visors are new as well. It's very tidy, clean, and well-presented
throughout.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: This is where it gets really good! Under the
hood is the original, VIN # matching LS5 454 with correct 512
casting and proper date codes. In 1971, while most horsepower
ratings dropped, the Chevelle actually gained 5 horsepower, and
this big block delivers an impressive 500 lb-ft of torque. The
engine is dressed correctly with stock manifolds, valve covers, and
the factory functional cowl induction system feeding it fresh air.
It's also equipped with power steering and power brakes. The entire
compartment is beautifully detailed, featuring reproduction spark
plug wires, a new wiring harness, correct fuel lines, and all metal
surfaces painted smooth and tidy. It's finished with GM hoses and
clamps, hooked-up horns and squirters, a fresh wiper motor, and
proper hood insulation-everything looks just right.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk is very clean and well detailed
throughout. Under the trunk lid and in the jamb, the paint is slick
and finished to match the quality of the exterior. Inside, it's
solid, clean metal with a neatly applied spatter finish. The
weatherstrip, decals, and trunk mat have all been replaced. It's
complete with a jack assembly and a spare, including a matching SS
wheel-just the way you want to see it.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath, it's completely restored, dialed in
mechanically, and detailed beautifully. It features the F41
suspension with boxed rear control arms and front and rear sway
bars, and the steering and suspension have been fully rebuilt-
upgraded with air shocks in back. The brake system has been
completely redone with front disc brakes, and all lines and e-brake
cables have been replaced. The fuel system is new as well,
including the tank and lines. It has a factory style dual exhaust
with correct "cowbell" tips. Looking up at the motor, it's clean
Chevy Orange with a fresh-looking starter. The Muncie 4-speed also
appears fresh, and a rebuilt driveshaft leads back to a 12-bolt
rear end. The floors, braces, and inner rockers are all smooth,
clean metal, along with the chassis components and frame, which
have been neatly painted black.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we
built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and
hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car
we sell.
CONCLUSION: I want to reiterate just how special this Chevelle SS
truly is. Whether you're a serious collector or an enthusiast,
owning this particular car will be incredibly rewarding. It offers
a rare combination of features, authenticity, and condition that
most others simply don't.
