FOR SALE - REAL DEAL 1968 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE "SS", Numbers Matching
327ci 4brl V8, TH400 Auto trans with 24,755 miles showing on the
odometer (TMU) and it is finished in its ORIGINAL COLOR "Ermine
White" with a rare ORIGINAL red SS interior!! This "SS" Impala
comes from a family of long time ownership and this rare one has
been well cared for! Before we get into the specifics we should let
the nay-sayers out there know this is a VERIFIED "SS" CAR and the
documents are pictured at the end of the gallery to prove this. The
1968 VIN NO LONGER INCORPORATED THE "TRIM LEVEL" OF THE CAR but the
first 5 digits (on this car is 16467) did incorporate the
manufacture, model & body style (1=Chevrolet), model (64=Impala
Series) & body code (67-convertible)... see first documentation pic
in gallery after the engine decode pic. The COWL TAG is where all
of the info is pertaining to the vehicle and as stated starting
from the top of the Cowl Tag this car was born on the 4th week in
June, 1968 and is wearing its born in color of "Ermine White" with
what appears to be the original interior in its born in color of
"Red". The TR Code on the Cowl indicated the INTERIOR COLOR & TRIM
LEVEL this car was to have during assemble. There were 5 Impala
"SS" interior color packages in 1968 and cowl tag denotes the
correct "RED" trim this car has, its code is "TR-868D" (pic at end
of gallery) which indicated to the assembly line this Impala was to
receive the "RED SS TRIM PACKAGE" including all the appropriate
"SS" body badging. The engine code stamped on the block (pic in
gallery) indicates this is a L73 327ci 4brl 250 hp engine mated to
a TH400 Trans which would be typical with the "SS" package. Paint
has been buffed and shines very nice with typical bumps/bruises as
would be expected with the age but local car show worthy!!!
Interior appears to be original and very nice with what also
appears to be an original top in PROPER WORKING ORDER with one
material repair having been made in the past. This car has been
driven several miles on the highway by us, to our Service Center
for a fresh oil change and inspection and runs and drives as it
should, turn key!! The horn works, the heater works, the radio
works, the wipers work, the lights work and so on... meaning this
