While personal preference will always supersede public sentiment,
many enthusiasts feel that the late C2 generation, like this 1967
Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible. Qualifying as a legit
quadruple-black roadster, this C2 has been fully repainted in this
sleek black exterior paint and also comes with a body-color
accessory hardtop to go along with its black convertible top, all
matching its black interior, allowing it to look different yet
still spectacular from any angle, even when the temperature
dips.
Inside, we find a comfy black vinyl interior. A center console
separates the dual bucket seats, while an aftermarket three-spoke
sport steering wheel sits just ahead of the C2 six-pod gauge
cluster, featuring a 7,000-rpm tachometer and a 160-mph
speedometer. A large analog clock sits high atop the center stack,
while a vertically-mounted AM/FM/Cassette head unit handles
soundtrack duties. With its convertible setup, this 'Vette also
sports a relatively cargo area behind the seats, even with the top
down, making road trips equal parts practical and fun.
Under that front-hinged hood, we find a clean engine bay housing a
massive 454 cubic-inch V-8. Starting with a bored-over, decked, and
balanced 427 block, this built rat motor is outfitted with Keith
Black hypereutectic 11.5:1 compression pistons, a double-roller
timing chain, high-volume oil and fuel pumps, an Edelbrock Torker
II intake, and a Holley 750 cfm carburetor. Along with a set of
long-tube headers and FlowMaster dual exhaust, we're told this big
block pumps out an impressive 520 horsepower. Those ponies are
routed through a numbers-matching, tried-and-true Muncie four-speed
manual transmission before heading out to the Corvette rear end,
which transfers those ponies to the pavement via a set of polished
17-inch Foose wheels.
