This 1980 International Scout II is an extremely cool, clean, and
capable Scout that spent its life in California. This Scout has a
really cool history and a lot of documentation and receipts. It was
owned by one man until 2020 and this was his prized possession. He
did a ton of upgrades and always kept it well maintained over the
years. We have receipts going back to day 1 of ownership totaling
$55,000 + and a lot of the work was done by IH Parts America which
is pretty cool. The paperwork includes the original line ticket,
owners manuals, etc This Scout has about every upgrade thinkable
and it is turn-key ready. It was built to be a dependable trail rig
and a dependable driver. One item to note: the original owner of
this Scout had a mishap when he was doing an off road trip and
damaged the driver's rear upper quarter panel and hard top. His
Insurance Company issued a salvage because of the cost compared to
the value at that time.
The body is clean and straight and since it spent its life in
California it doesn't have the typical rust issues these Scouts
normally have. It was repainted Willow Green in the last couple of
years (original color was Dark Green Metallic) and the paint looks
great!! They added new side moldings at that time. It has a brand
new SoftTopper soft top. It has aftermarket front and rear bumpers.
The front bumper is a stubby style winch bumper with a 10,000 pound
winch that works and it also has working off road lights. The rear
bumper was custom built and it also has custom rock sliders that
are mounted to the frame. The underside is super clean on this
Scout. It has not been detailed but left original because of how
nice it is. We found no rust issues with this Scout.
The interior is your basic Scout interior and is nice. The whole
tup was Rhino Lined on the inside. It has a family roll cage that
is tied into the frame for safety. The original seats have all been
professionally reupholstered and look excellent. The dash is
original and in good condition and the door panels were repainted
when the Scout was painted. The headlights, taillights,
brakelights, and turn signals are all working. The heat, horn, and
windshield wipers work. There is a radio that does not work and
there are no speakers.
Mechanically this Scout is top notch and it runs and drives great!!
This drives much better than a basic stock Scout. The engine is a
rebuilt 304 V8 that runs excellent and holds strong oil pressure.
We did not get receipts but we are confident this engine does not
have a lot of mileage on it. They added TBI fuel injection so it
starts easy and runs smooth. It also has an aluminum radiator,
electronic ignition, dual exhaust. Other recent maintenance
includes a new starter, new waterpump, upgraded alternator, new
belts and hoses, full tune-up, and new valve cover gaskets. The
transmission is the T18 4 Speed manual that shifts great with a
strong clutch. It is mated to the Dana 300 transfer case and the
4WD works like it should. The transfer case was rebuilt with a
Terra Low 4.1 Kit with custom driveshafts front and rear (have
receipt). The front and rear axles were rebuilt (have receipt). The
rear axle is a Dana 44 with 4.56 gears and a Detroit Locker. The
front axle is also a Dana 44 with an ARB air locker. The front axle
was cut and turned for better caster. There is an ARB on-board air
compressor. It has a parts Mike hi-steer kit with new knuckles, new
ball joints, and heavy duty hi-steer. It has PSC hydraulic assist
steering with a new gearbox and new pump. The front brakes were
upgraded to GM style power front disc brakes with all new lines and
hoses. The suspension is a custom spring-over axle with Alcan
springs and it rides excellent. This is all sitting on a a
beautiful set of aluminum wheels with 35 inch Mud Terrains in like
new condition.
