The 1966 Chevrolet El Camino is the story of America's favorite
car-truck. It was a vehicle that blended the style and comfort of a
car with the utility of a pickup bed. The El Camino concept was
first introduced in 1959 as a full-size coupe utility based on the
Brookwood wagon platform and it was designed to challenge Ford's
Ranchero. Demand dropped in 1960 and Chevrolet discontinued it. But
the idea lived on and in 1964, Chevrolet revived the El Camino on
the all-new Chevelle platform. Now it was more agile, affordable,
and the timing was perfect for the growing muscle car era.For 1966,
the El Camino had a more aggressive stance, a bold chrome grille,
coke-bottle contours, and a long hood. This gave it a muscular look
and set it apart from the boxy pickups. This Chevy El Camino is up
for sale, and it is not only good-looking, but also a great
ride! The exterior has new blue paint, and it is a gorgeous color.
Body is straight and solid and all chrome and trim is excellent.
New are the bumpers, wheels, wheel moldings, and tires. The rocker
moldings are also new as well as the taillight assembly, emblems,
door handles, bumper guards, and mirrors. The black bucket seat
interior with console is new and in great condition. Transmission
shifter is in the console and there is a clock as well. The color
is a great contrast with the exterior blue paint. Headliner is also
black and so is the carpet that has Chevy floormats. The engine is a
454 CID Big Block 4V and is paired with a rebuilt 700R 4-speed
automatic w/overdrive transmission. It starts up easily and runs
great! Also to note is that the 12-bolt rear end has been rebuilt
with less than 100 miles.Options include power steering, power
brakes, and AM/FM factory radio that is new with new speakers. This
66 Chevy El Camino is a great cruiser, and it will turn heads
wherever you go! It is in North Carolina, and it is available for
viewing or inspection by appointment only.
