This 1963 Ford F-100 Stepside long bed barn find is a great
starting point for anyone looking to build a restomod. It needs
some work, but it's already headed in the right direction. The body
and chassis are mostly solid, and while the interior shows its age,
it also shows plenty of potential. The truck still carries a
classic stance thanks to its newer Mastercraft tires, wheels, and
hub caps. With some time and effort, this F-100 could be turned
into a standout project. Of course, if you prefer the patina look,
it can just as easily be driven and enjoyed exactly as it
sits-without worrying about every little scratch.
Inside, the interior follows the same theme of solid bones with
room for improvement. The painted dashboard still looks clean and
doesn't show noticeable scratches. The rubber floor mat is worn and
coming apart, but replacing it is a quick and inexpensive fix. The
bench seat will need upholstery work, and the headliner appears
intact but dirty. A good cleaning alone would go a long way in
bringing this cabin back to life. Out back, the wooden bed and
surrounding structure appear solid overall, though like the rest of
the truck, it could benefit from some attention.
Power comes from a 292 cubic-inch Y-block V8 paired with a 3-speed
manual transmission that sends power to a 9-inch rear end with a
3.98 gear ratio. The drivetrain is believed to be original.
Factory-style suspension remains in place, front and rear, along
with manual drum brakes at all four corners. Stock appearing
15-inch wheels with Ford hub caps wrapped in Mastercraft
tires-255/60R15 in the front and 235/70R15 in the rear are fairly
new. Exhaust flows through stock-style manifolds into a single
system finished with a Glasspack-style muffler.
