A 1949 Studebaker 2R5 Streetrod Pickup like this is rarely found
finished to such a high level. The vibrant red paint, matched with
a color-keyed front bumper and grille and flush rear end treatment,
gives the truck a clean, custom look. It sits perfectly on polished
Boyd Coddington aluminum wheels, completing the lowered stance just
right. Updated front lighting and classic blue-dot taillights add a
touch of hot rod personality. Brightwork is minimal but used
effectively, providing just the right amount of shine. A hydraulic
tilt bed and metal sun visor serve as standout showpieces that add
both function and style. All badges remain in place, the body
panels are straight, the gaps are even, and the chassis is
solid-clear signs this street rod was built with care and attention
to detail.
Inside, the Beige and Tan interior is clean and well-maintained.
The door cards and matching bucket seats look nice and complement
the truck's custom appearance. A custom steering wheel with a
color-matched rim connects to a tilt steering column finished in
the same red as the exterior. Instrumentation includes AutoMeter
tachometer and speedometer gauges, with a VDO gauge to the left
monitoring the air ride suspension. Four additional auxiliary
gauges: Oil / Water / Volts / Fuel-sit to the right of the main
cluster. A B&M floor-mounted shifter handles gear selection,
while the carpets and dashboard remain in good condition
throughout. Overhead, a fully custom headliner houses a Kenwood
headunit with speakers placed throughout the cabin. Out back, the
bed is finished with a clean wood-plank floor, completing the
custom bed tilt presentation.
Under the hood, the engine bay is clean, simple, and well-detailed.
Power comes from a 350 cubic-inch V8, upgraded with a small cam (no
specs), an Edelbrock aluminum intake, and a 4-barrel Holley
carburetor. The setup is paired with a 700R4 4-speed automatic
transmission that sends power to a 9-inch rear axle. The front
suspension uses a GM short-long arm setup with airbags, modified
control arms, a sway bar, and linkage steering. The rear is
supported by a four-link suspension with a cross bar and coilovers.
Rolling on 18-inch Boyd Coddington wheels in front and 20-inch
wheels in the rear, wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires,
this truck delivers both style and reliability. Power disc brakes
at all four corners guarantee a confident stop every time. And long
tube headers, dual exhaust, and Flowmaster mufflers, ensure the
truck sounds just as good as it looks.
