1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible
VIN: 138675Z161532
1965 Chevelle Malibu Super Sport convertible, Crocus Yellow paint, black canvas top. Odometer says approximately 14,000 miles but the car likely has 114,000 miles on it.
This beautiful SS ragtop is powered by an original numbers matching L30 250 HP 327 engine suffix code EE, automatic Powerglide transmission on the floor, 12 bolt rear end with 3.07 gears. Original AFB carburetor.
Of 9128 ’65 Chevelle Malibu SS convertibles made, it is believed that only 939 Super Sport convertibles were painted in Crocus Yellow paint code YY, which is one of three colors available for the Super Sport models. Of the 939 SS convertibles painted in Crocus Yellow, it is not known how many were built with the L30 327/Powerglide combo. If it is assumed that maybe 20-30% were made with the L30/auto combo, this would be considered a fairly rare car. Judging by the lack of these on the market, the rarity seems to be confirmed.
White/black interior, factory tachometer, factory air conditioning (works), power steering, new red line tires with original SS hubcaps, manual convertible top. Top appears to be original, shows some wear, no tears or holes, plastic rear window is brittle and cracked, new rear window included with sale.
The original factory AM radio has been replaced with an AM/FM cassette stereo with Pyle speakers installed in the kick panels. Other than the modified sound system, a fresh coat of paint, new carpet and new tires, the car appears highly original.
This car was manufactured in Fremont, CA and was purchased in Arizona. This dry southern car is solid with absolutely no corrosion. Car looks and drives great. Rare opportunity to own an original SS convertible.
