Custom ExhaustFactory Full ConvertibleA HDJ73 was never made so we
had to make our own! We call this recently completed build the
'Little Monster'. We are constantly searching for 70 Series Land
Cruisers and finding a clean 73 full cabrio is very difficult. The
BJ73 shown here has been modified and upgraded significantly from
stock form. This Land Cruiser features a freshly rebuilt 4.2L 1HD-T
performance modified turbo diesel, manual transmission, and limited
slip rear differential. 70 Series are considered one of the
ultimate expedition vehicles every built. The combination you see
here is the true holy grail of 70 Series Land Cruisers. A true
pleasure to drive in any condition life might throw your way. This
is a left-hand drive example sold new January 1, 1992 to a buyer in
Le?n, Spain. Records show this vehicle stayed in the Leon area for
26 years. We purchased this Land Cruiser from what is believed to
be the second owner in Ferrol, Spain. Spain is known for its dry
climate which is great at preserving cars and limiting rust over
the years. Since being purchased Car Cave has done a significant
number of upgrades. This is no longer your factory BJ73 from 1992.
A completely rebuilt 1HD-T engine was installed featuring internals
including NPR rings, ACL Race Searing Bearings, Ceramic Coated
Pistons (42.4 MM Bowl), ARP Head Studs, Ross Performance 6-Bolt
Harmonic Balancer, connecting rods, and machine work completed by
Precision Cylinder Head of Aiken, SC. Car Cave has done
approximately 500 break-in miles since rebuilding the engine. We
also installed larger clutch for the increased power, custom
intake, Whistle N Soot Intercooler (to keep the EGTs down), larger
Grunter greenwheel turbo, and 3' stainless side exhaust. A complete
factory style air conditioning system was also added by Car
CaveThis model was built from the factory for the FRP Top to be
removed including these features: rear half doors, removable front
window tracks, fold down windshield, and thumb screw collapsible
windshield wipers. A whole list of modifications were made to this
vehicle including Aisin manual front hubs, Old Man Emu lifted leaf
springs, HD 2.5' shackles (approximately 3.5' lift in total),
Rancho 9000 shocks, Old Man Emu Steering Stabilizer, Ironman
Commercial Deluxe Bull Bar, Smittybilt Winch, Yokohama M/T Tires,
and custom audio equipment.Power comes from the freshly rebuilt
4.2-liter turbo diesel paired with a 5-speed manual transmission,
and a two-speed transfer case. The workhorse 1HD-T is a 12 valve
4.2 L (4,164 cc) straight-6 SOHC turbocharged direct injection
diesel engine is typically reserved for Toyota's commercial
applications due to its reliability and plentiful torque. When the
engine starts, and the turbo spools up you can tell quite a few
upgrades are hidden under the hood. Keeping all that torque in
contact with the pavement is a set of 295/70R17 Yokohama Geolander
M/T mounted on an attractive set of silver 17' steel wheels. This
Land Cruiser is shown in its original color of Red Burdeos with the
factory interior cloth patterned seats. The driver's seat edge does
show some signs of wear but we did not want to change the original
interior. We can make repairs per buyer request or leave it all
original.Factory equipment includes power brakes, power steering,
tilt wheel, front disc brakes, power locks, tilt wheel, push button
4wd, idle control speed, and a digital clock. The factory gauge
cluster includes: tachometer, speedometer, temperature, fuel, oil
pressure, and voltmeter. The dash mounted factory altimeter and
inclinometer are shown above the aftermarket Pioneer Bluetooth
media player. The MVH-S520BT Receiver pushes sound through 6.5' and
6'x9' Pioneer speakers and a self-powered Pioneer
subwoofer.Upgrades and Features:Rebuilt and Performance Modified
