Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is excited to offer This Excellent
2003 Ford Mustang Roush Boyd Coddington California Roadster, a
highly documented and exceptionally rare collaboration that blends
the craftsmanship of Roush Performance with the unmistakable
styling influence of street rod legend Boyd Coddington. Finished in
a striking two-tone Black and Silver color scheme over a matching
Black and Silver leather interior, this California Roadster is car
#12 of just 58 Boyd Coddington California Roadsters built, making
it one of the most exclusive New Edge Mustangs produced in 2003.
Showing just 43,000 original miles, this example remains clean,
stock, and beautifully preserved.
According to the original documentation included with the car, the
base 2003 Mustang GT Convertible carried an MSRP of $29,255.30,
while the Roush Boyd Coddington California Roadster Package added
$11,942.00. With optional equipment including Roush aluminum
pedals, Roush short throw shifter, and the Magna Pac exhaust
system, plus transportation, total Roush MSRP brought the combined
sticker to $42,812.00-an enormous premium over a standard GT and
clear proof of its specialty status when new. Each car was
serialized, and this example carries Roush serial number 8571,
further supporting its authenticity and collectibility.
Powering this limited-production Mustang is the factory 4.6-liter
SOHC V8 backed by a 5-speed manual transmission equipped with the
Roush-installed short throw shifter. This is a naturally aspirated,
non-supercharged example, which appeals strongly to collectors
seeking originality and factory-correct configuration. The engine
and transmission perform exactly as they should, delivering a
responsive, analog driving experience that defines the era. The
Magna Pac exhaust system provides a deep, authoritative V8 tone
that perfectly complements the car's sporty character without
overpowering the refined presentation.
Visually, the Boyd Coddington California Roadster package
transformed the Mustang with unique cosmetic and performance
upgrades. The two-tone custom paint is complemented by a Roush
front fascia with fog lamps, Roush rear wing, Roush emblems, Boyd
Coddington decals, and factory Boyd Coddington California Roadster
18-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance tires. The black vinyl
convertible top presents in excellent condition and operates as
intended. Inside, the custom-stitched two-tone Black and Silver
leather interior continues the theme with a serialized dash plaque
featuring Boyd's signature, a Roush convertible styling bar, and a
Roush electroluminescent gauge package. The presence of both Boyd
Coddington's signed Serialized plaque and Jack Roush's signature on
the dash highlights the authenticity and pedigree of this
special-edition Mustang. The cabin remains in excellent condition
with only very minor wear noted, consistent with mileage.
Beyond styling, Roush upgraded the chassis with a comprehensive
suspension package that includes front and rear valved shocks,
front and rear springs, rear lower control arms, front sway bar,
and pinion snubber, giving the car sharper handling and improved
road feel over a standard Mustang GT. Factory equipment includes
power steering, power disc brakes with ABS and traction control,
remote keyless entry, air conditioning, power convertible top with
rear defrost, tinted glass, intermittent wipers, MACH AM/FM/CD
stereo, power windows, power door locks, dual power mirrors, tilt
steering, power driver seat, cruise control, Roush aluminum pedals,
Roush floor mats, and the factory Roush trunk-mounted tool kit.
This seldom-seen California Roadster is nicely documented with its
original Ford window sticker, original Roush window sticker,
interactive Mustang Owner Experience CD, original warranty guide,
and owner's manual-an important factor in long-term value and
collector confidence. As early-2000s specialty Mustangs continue to
gain recognition, limited-production Roush
collaborations-especially low-mile, stock examples-are becoming
increasingly desirable. With only 58 built and this being number
12, this 2003 Ford Mustang Roush Boyd Coddington California
Roadster represents a rare opportunity to own a documented,
low-mile, investment-grade piece of modern Mustang history that is
equally at home on the show field or out on a spirited weekend
drive.
