For Sale: 1931 Ford 2-Dr Coupe in Vancouver, Washington

1931 Ford Model A, Search for "Casny Coupe", this car has been well documented. 

Built by Chris Casny -  an Austin, TX craftsman whose latest build received a multi-page feature in The Rodder’s Journal #69. This chopped Model A was Casny’s personal car from 2009 – 2017, and the car was driven on many long distance trips to various shows from California to Louisiana. (The last “long” drive was in 2016 from Austin, TX to Lafayette, LA for the Bayou Round Up – approx. 1,000 miles round trip.) In 2017 Casny sold the car to the current owner, and it has been stored in a climate controlled garage and driven sparingly since.

This black beauty has been featured in numerous magazines, including on the cover of Rolls & Pleats, PowerGlide, and was a Rod & Custom feature car. Also was in Dead End magazine. (Copies of the magazines are included with the car.) The car was invited (but did not attend) to be part of the “90th Anniversary of the Model A” exhibit at the 2019 Grand National Roadster Show.

Casny purchased the steel A body and frame from Aaron Kahan (Burbank Choppers). According to Aaron, the A ran around the streets of Barstow CA, in the early 60's, It originally ran a V8 Chevy engine backed by a 39 Ford trans'. It was a mild, full fendered hot rod with bobbed rear fenders, 49 Merc wheels, etc.

Casny gave the car a perfect 4” chop, and proceeded to rebuild the car from the ground up, finishing in 2009.

All the windows open and close as they should, including a roll-down rear window. The doors and trunk can be locked and the doors close nice, without having to slam them shut.

A set of mint 1931 California black plates (cleared for use) are included with the car, as is a hardcover photo book of the car being built, parts being fabricated, etc.

Runs and drives flawlessly. 

Body and paint:

• Chopped 4”

• DuPont basecoat clear coat for the body single stage for the chassis. Painted by Jeff Savage, Indiana.

Drivetrain:

• 1956 Buick 322 Nailhead
• 6x2 Offenhauser, intake manifold with 6 (six) Stromberg 97 carburetors. Only 4 of them are “on” right now, connected to a straight linkage made from vintage aircraft parts.
• Relocated generator charges the battery in the trunk. 
• Pertronix ignition.
• Custom made headers with removable baffles
• 1939 Ford top loader (three speed) is connected to an Offenhauser #309 transmission adaptor.
• Mcloud clutch
• F-1 Ford Pedals

Chassis:

• 1932 aftermarket frame rails
• Model a rear crossmember and flattened
• Model front cross member
• Custom K member
• Chrome pitman arm
• Dropped model A front axle with split model A wishbones,
• 1936 Ford rear end (3.78 gears) with modified 36 wishbones and torque tube. Model A leaf springs
• Hydraulic brakes 1940 Ford in rear, 1939 Lincoln bendix in front. Dual master cylinder.
• Mid 60’s Mopar cowl steering
• Guide headlights, 1948 Chevy taillights

Tires

• Firestone dirt trackers 5.00-16 in front and 750-16 in the back. Still good.
• Wheels: 1940 Ford wheels. 16x4 in front and 16x4.5 in the rear

Interior

• Full oxblood leather interior including headliner, by Dave Martinez, California
• Newer Stewart Warner gauges
• Chrome garnish molding & shifter
• Working dome light
