*1971 AMC Javelin SST*American Motors Corporation (AMC) is one of
the often forgotten contributors to the muscle car boom of the late
1960s and early 1970s. With cars like the Javelin and AMX, AMC made
some truly competitive products and even won the Trans-Am race
series with the Javelin in 1971, 1972 and 1976, against cars like
the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger. This 1971 Javelin SST was from
the first year of the second generation Javelin, which had seen a
complete redesign that ran until 1974. Finished in light metallic
blue, this Javelin benefits from a comprehensive, rotisserie
restoration by North American Muscle Cars between 2018 and 2019 and
remains in exceptional condition. The 1971 redesign included unique
fender bulges, a rear spoiler and long sloping front hood. As an
SST, this car occupied the middle trim level for the era, giving
the vehicle full length pinstripes, upgraded interior materials and
more exterior brightwork. Sitting on a set of 500 Magnum chrome
wheels, this car looks as good as the day it rolled out of the
showroom and is very deserving of its Best in Class win at the 2025
AMC Rally in Vancouver, WA.Open the door and the interior of this
Javelin feels far more refined than most of its muscle car
competition from the era. Wood applique covers the dashboard and
portions of the door cards, while the two-tone dark blue and black
vinyl interior looks quite upscale with two bucket seats in front
and a bench in the rear. Sit in the driver's seat and you are met
by a deep-dish 3-spoke steering wheel that frames a unique 3-gauge
pack with a central speedometer, multi gauge to the left and a
tachometer with a clock in the center. To your right is a console
with a Hurst shifter, and controls for the heating and air
conditioning are situated behind that.Under the hood sits an AMC
360ci V8 that is rated at 300 horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque.
During the restoration, the engine was rebuilt with a performance
cam, so that number may be a bit higher. Power is then sent through
a 4-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. Under the car, front
power disc brakes are paired with rear drums. The car runs and
drives fantastically and is a great representation of what a
classic muscle car of the era was like when new.If you love the
ethos of American muscle cars - but want something a bit more
offbeat, the Javelin is a great option. For every restored Javelin
at your local car show, there will be dozens of Camaros, Mustangs
and Chevelles, so it is a great way to get a fun to drive car that
also is extremely unique. This example presents in fantastic
condition throughout and will be a joy to own for years to
come.*Key Features* * Full Rotisserie Restoration w/Invoices * Over
